The outbreak was initially linked to a market in Wuhan where exotic animals are known to be sold as food.

Amazes me. Dick Head is gonna quarantine Aussies returning to Australia from China at Christmas Island...yet planeloads of people from China arriving walk right in.

Yep.

Scotty from marketing isn't all there.

Perhaps he should take a trip to Hawaii and let the adults handle this.

Isn't he bringing people in who are trapped in infected zones?

Are any of your zones infected?

If so, maybe you should let Bobby know.

No muppet. It's linked to eating "exotic " animals. In early Australia new arrivals were quarantined according to social class for a period of time. Many people actually caught small pox while quarantined. This could happen  where they send these people. I'm sure these detentions centres etc  are going to fill up pretty quickly.

So how will they know that the people on Christmas Island are free of the virus?
During the 14 days there someone could carry the virus and give to someone else on say the 10th day
and that person when released will come back to live here.
No one might show any symptoms there.

seriously bobby  when it comes to Quarantine they dont just pile more people into the same ward or rooms   use your commonsense...they are doing their best to come up with a jab to stop this spreading   just like measles....it needs to be stopped  or it can become a plague........because of the speed it travels...think how lucky we are with our strict border control....not every country is like that.

There is no jab - no vaccine yet.
There might be one in 2 months - not 2 weeks.

they are pretty good these days bobby....and its an emergency and they are working on it all round the world......hang in there bobs..

Yes Cods,
maybe they can slow down the transmission
using quarantine and produce a vaccine just in time for
the general population?

Maybe we can survive this?

Why did you introduce the word "routinely"?

I'm curious.

In China shoppers  can buy loads of different animals to eat. frogs, snakes, bats, dogs, cats, monkey's , bugs, all sorts of furry critters etc etc. Australia doesn't do that. The article I supplied from 9news claims that Chinese authorities believe that is how the virus was spread. And in particular they are looking at the consumption of bats. Take your argument up with the Chinese Pecca?
