do you think couples will be cancelling their weddings????

Cry Cry Cry

If they're having it in Indonesia/Bali ... they should .... Indos finally admitting they have cases presenting now.

Ironically a couple I know fairly well .... flew out to Vietnam on Monday .... I think they're mad ...

they'd be millionaires but I bet they went instead of cancelling because they didn't want to lose the $5,000 they'd prepaid for the trip.

I hope they're quarantined when they get back ... otherwise we could have our first cases on the Fraser Coast.

The Vietnamese eat all the same exotic meats & bugs that the Chinese do ..... & they're right next door.

heres an interesting statistic
Quote:
In Australia, influenza on average causes 3,500 deaths, about 18,000 hospitalisations and 300,000 GP consultations each year.
If we get anywhere near this I may think about taking a little precaution but some of you people need to calm your tits.

Shhhhh. It doesn't fit the narrative.

Apparently the 6pm propaganda last night said to "stock up on supplies".
Way to boost the economy.

Really?

Jesus Christ   Roll Eyes

I'm going down to a Woolworths in the CBD in a couple of hours.

I'll see if the office workers here in Perth are panic buying or not.

I'll check out the hand sanitiser section.

I'm told by people from Woolworths that the racial groups with experience in this type of thing are targeting bottled water and toilet paper.

Ahh Baby Formula Mk2 or Mk3?

As usual the people hyping the virus are going to be responsible for more deaths.

I saw my doctor yesterday to get some blood test results (sorry to all the haters, all good across the board) and we had a chat about the virus.  While the practice is taking precautions, she's furious at the media.  In her opinion, containment has failed and COVID-19 will likely infect everyone living in a community (perhaps spare more rural Australians, although the markets will help to spread it out to the farmers too).

She's worried for the elderly (70+ even some in the 60-70 bracket) and those with compromised immune systems or other underlying conditions (weakened lungs etc) but for everyone else, even young children the data is showing, many will have no symptoms, most will get a mild flu and some will have "man flu" (she's a comedian...) and a very small percentage will require medical intervention and support.

Basically, we'll all get it, like Influenza, and the world will keep turning.  They're still doing what they can to prevent the spread within the practice, but the medical consensus, at least within the doctors at the practice, it seems to be that more harm will be done by the panic than the virus.

I just hope this helps some of the anti-vax tards to get on board once a vaccination is available.  At least that would make something good come from all of this.

The media should have been issued with D-Notices regarding coronavirus.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DSMA-Notice

Way too late now, of course.

Our goal is to produce the vaccine during the next eight to ten weeks and to achieve safety approval in 90 days.

Cool. Cause its not like any pharmaceutical company has ever exaggerated its ability to get anything on the market.

Plus whilst it may be safe, we don';t know its effective in humans as yet

Infectious Diseases Specialist and Associate Professor at the Australian National University Sanjaya Senanayake has spoken with Sky News about the threat of coronavirus and has given an update of a possible vaccine to combat it.

He said "in about four to six weeks" human trails will be conducted in the US for a coronavirus vaccine.

But having said all this, even if they get it up and running in the next 90 days, by the looks of it, its going to be meaningless for a huge proportion of the population
