does all this virus panic mean prince philip is dead but they kept it a secret?

We couldn't be that lucky.
Maybe the mole in the throne too.

They’ve lived 5000 times our lives.
I can’t even imagine how good it would be to have the best nutritious chefs, doctors, nanny’s, protection, transport, holidays, housemaids, butlers, holidays, dressmakers, etc and basically everyone licking their arze. Everyone at their beck and call.
Never having to worry about making a buck to survive.
Can anyone imagine that?
It has always irked me how the rest struggle whilst this privileged lot are always  in our faces about their lavish lifestyle.
And furthermore, that when they come to Australia, we mere tax payers pay them when they can afford to million times over.
But alas, always in front pages of magazines to keep sticking it up us.
I’m not a royal family fan in case anyone didn’t notice  Tongue
Bet they don’t worry about running out of toilet paper!

You know what’s funny, re this virus and people advised to keep away from crowds, yet it’s their royal duty to go amidst crowds, talk to them, shake hands etc  Grin Cheesy I bet we see an upgrade of how distant they keep from herds of people now, or else wear masks, but if Princess Diana were alive, she shook hands with aids sufferers which dispelled fears....

I'm at the point now where I'm resigned to the fact I'll get it.

My doctor was telling me the same thing.  She quickly followed up trying to reassure me that it's not a death sentence etc and I stopped her, politely telling her that I know the difference between the hype, the media-induced fear for views and that I've been getting my information from the WHO, CDC etc.

I told her that I had read that in China, rather than shaking hands or even bowing, they're now tapping their shoes as a sign of respect, greeting etc.  I don't know how true that is, but she's going to be recommending that to people now rather than fist pumps instead of shaking hands now.

She's clearly seen a lot of scared people recently.  There are a lot of elderly people where I live, so I'm not surprised.

I've already got a roster of 5 of my neighbours who's bins I take out and in for them on bin day because of their age.

Given that I live so far away from my own grandfather who is in his 90s and seeing the help his neighbours give to him, as well as the council services, to help him stay at home, it's the least I can do.

That reminds me, I should confirm everyone contact details just in case.

Exactly, being in education of health care professionals, I figure I'm in a higher risk category of contracting the illness, but since I'm under 50, don't smoke, have no pre-existing illness, I'm in a low risk category of having serious consequences of it.

So my practice from here is, practice my handwashing, cover my nose and mouth when I cough and sneeze and then as soon as I feel sick, isolate myself.

Hey Bojack, give thanks you are not on a cruise ship, or are you?
I have unsubscribed from all cruise ship deals, not in the least bit enticed.
What we have surmised, is in future cruising, if we survive, we will always get a balcony with door to outside air.

Have faith a vaccine is in the making.

I know everyone is nervous and suss.

A couple nights ago my daughter and I were in a Japanese restaurant. A bit squishy in there.
A couple young blokes near our table. One starts coughing, a lot.
My daughter and I just froze and looked at each other!

I hoped it was the chilli he put in his meal that caused the coughing, I know that hot stuff can do that.

But..... I said to daughter later, from now on we order it as takeaway. No more sitting in dining!

Front page of yesterday's West Australian newspaper had a story about how all the mining companies plan to have a 'get together' to discuss how to protect their armies of fly in, fly out workers from coronavirus (a lot of the workers also like to travel to Bali when they're not rostered on, apparently).

After reading the article the cynic in me could be excused for thinking that the mining companies were more corncerned about losing money due to potential shutdowns than they are about their workers' health.

In other 'news', I've just been reading the Finance section of another forum - someone was saying they will wait until Qantas is sub $1 before they decide to jump in and buy.

Someone replied: "What, the shares or the whole company?"

Nothing cynical about that - it's just a fact.

Yep, it's another case of "doing the right thing for the wrong reason".

Seen it many times over the years (especially lately) with a lot of jobs where you have to do a safety course and then sign off on it to show you understand it all and will abide by it.

We're told that this is to protect people in the workplace - which it should do, of course. But, the main reason for having all this "safety" business in workplaces is to protect businesses from workers compensation claims and lawsuits, etc.

As I said - doing the right thing for the wrong reason.

But, it does have the required result, I guess?

(Having said all this in my last 2 posts I would like to make it clear to everyone that I definitely do not want to see people losing their jobs in mining or anywhere else. But, unfortunately, it looks inevitable at this stage).

No virus out here in the bush - no Chinese, Iranians or Asians spreading it around, keep them in the big cities, we don't want them out here

Coronavirus in New York: 13 Confirmed Cases

Handshakes have been replaced with elbow bumps and heart taps. About 300 students studying abroad were told to return home. Over 100 families in the New York suburbs were told to quarantine themselves.

Since Sunday, 13 cases of the coronavirus have been confirmed in New York, and residents have adopted a variety of strategies to curb the spread of the illness.
