Not really, the 1918 flu was brought here by sea.

So - what is the answer?
How can we stop these sorts of viruses?

Unless their incubation period/time before symptoms is measured in hours rather than many days or weeks, stuff all beyond what is already being done in reality. We could go back to sea travel and keep everyone on board at the destination until any disease ran it's course on board, which may be many months but that's not practical. How do we handle it beyond regressing to the stone age? We just deal with it the best we can.

There is always someone who will spoil the story.  Today, the 1918 Flu would be considered fairly mild.  Today, we have the medical care and the knowledge to treat it, Set.  They didn't in 1918.  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

You mean point out the reality? Sorry for pissing on your parade Brian.

Our defence force! What a virus can do to our defence force.

As Chris Martensen says, we have ...

Case.
Case.
Case.
Cluster.
Cluster...
Boom!

Remember Oz had 25 cases for a while, no change, like a calm before a storm..... suddenly, we have 78.
It’s tripled in a short amount of time.

That's because they haven't tightened up our borders enough ...... and people are flying in & out from all over the globe & are not being screened ...... or quarantined.

One thing is for sure -
air travel was the cause of this virus spreading
all around the world so quickly.

Actually, you're right, Bobby.  Perhaps we should stop all air travel and go back to ships?  Ships take appreciably longer tine to reach their destinations.  More than long enough to avoid such nasties.   Wink

Best to forgo "what ifs" or you'd build yourself a doomsday bunker and lock your family up.
