even then they should be put into isolation for two weeks ... and none of this voluntary crap either.

can you see everyone coming in doing that???????????

no, that's why i said 'none of the voluntary crap'.

so ooooooooooooooooooo how would you implement
compulsory self isolation???

Put lockable tracking devices on their ankles and shoot them if they are out of their confines.

too late for closing the borders as it is already here.

you could close all schools, shopping malls , cinemas,

and that would be more effective but whats the ultimate aim here.

if it is just to slow the spread , so the health system can cope, then we really need to ask.

is this massive disruption all for the benefit of the elderly and the unhealthy?

its a bit rich to ask young people to pay the price so every 90 yo from a nursing home can get gold standard hospital care.

i would just make a blankett rule...no one over 75 goes on a ventilator...period.

and then just get it over and done with and in about 3 months, we can resume normal activities.

this just seems to be drawing it out.
like pulling a band aid off really really slowly.

NZ response is silly.

say you can have zero cases.  then what.
1/2 of new zealands economy seems to depend on tourism.
are you going to keep those borders closed permanently.
becuase you will have a society with no immunity, so if you relax the restrictions, you just get to have your sickness during winter when the virus is more transmissable.
typical of that silly woman with the big teeth to signal of her virtue

would rather be unemployed for a year, then have a cough and a temperature for a week.
i know what i would choose

And rightly so, these are unprecedented times and drastic measures need to be taken.

China seems to have gotten on top of the situation using these measures, for now at least. They are probably still eating bats cats rats and dogs though.

Self isolating doesn't work.

Yes & they need to go into isolation ... mandatory.

Not self isolation.

Self isolating doesn't work.

If enough people do what they're told it will help.
Unfortunately, Australia is full of selfish morons
who won't obey orders -
the toilet paper crisis is just one example as there was
always enough for everyone.

And now there is a self isolation of 2 weeks anyone that comes into Australia from midnight tonight!

My son and wife are attending their friends wedding on Thursday, and the bride to be has her sister and friends coming from NZ for the wedding!
But they are not booked on a plane to get in before midnight tonight!
There was a rush booking flights to get out of NZ to Oz.

That bride to be, her sister and friends won’t be able to attend the wedding due to having to self isolate 2 weeks.

What a dilemma. This was all planned earlier to come over for the wedding.

This immediate announcement has caught a lot of people out.

And, my son’s wife, decided not to go to work this weekend to LA, because then she would have to self isolate 2 weeks on the way back!

But then she finds out one of her qantas hostesses has just been diagnosed with the virus. Qantas won’t tell them who or which flight path.

Now the rules are changing, international airline hostesses don’t have to self isolate, only the passengers.

That’s dumb.
Daughter in law said jokingly, “we don’t have to self isolate, we are exempt from catching the virus, we’re tough! We have immunity!” Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

I was reading how tough the NZ government is getting, with police to check all people are isolating themselves that come into NZ.i
