Relieved to be able to say that not all Chinese are that way
when I was binge watching those US youtube vids tipping it on Americans for their ignorance, they did some spin-offs. One vid was US vs China. And while they were walking a busy city in China, they spoke to various Chinese passing by. One of the questions asked of the Chinese was if they ate dogs. Many were very embarrassed and said that they had, as children, but not since. And a couple of middle aged Chinese women were good natured about being asked and replied straight away that no, they loved their dogs same as other members of the family. I believed that woman. Another said no, dogs are pets, we treat them very well, or something along those lines
Rural people seem to be despised by modern Chinese for their lack of couth. They call them out in a way that would never be tolerated here, in Hong Kong, where they're described as 'mainlanders'. Some of them need some shaping up, for sure. There's a video on youtube of an adult Chinese woman (probably one of the despised rural types) squatting to poo on the immaculate tiles in a shopping centre or airport. No shame at all. They weren't raised properly and don't realise they're doing anything untoward
One of the cleanest people I've met was a Chinese woman. She was scrupulous, fanatical about cleanliness and her concern was for everyone, not just herself and her own family
