Every time I thought I've had the flu, after seeing the doctor and getting tested it's never been influenza, but it doesn't stop me from saying "why did I even get the Flu shot, I still got a cold..." jokingly around the office.

I'll give it away, its about transmission. In winter, you're more likely to be inside and in closer contact with infected individuals who then couigh and sneeze, and thus more likely to inhale.

So in a way Trump is correct in that coronavirus in the Northern Hemisphere will decline due to winter, but he's incorrect in thaty it is not the virus getting weaker.

However Trump is correct in that airborne viruses attached to droplets of water are different. The droplets are smaller in winter (lower humidity) and lighter thus float easily. Larger droplets in summer fall.

Temperature and humidity affect the evaporation of liquid droplets. The higher the temperature and lower the humidity, the faster evaporation occurs. As a result of evaporation, spray droplet size decreases.

One of the reasons people contract more viruses in winter is because cold weather compromises our immune system . Vitamin D decreases which lowers our ability to fight bugs off. . Plus we sit indoors a lot more breathing in the same air. Trump is dead on correct. Even the black plague dropped off in the summer.

Trump isn't known for being particularly concise or articulate, plus he speaks a lot so there's a high chance for people to pounce on his every utterance to prove him wrong, like here.

I took it to be what you said meaning higher temperatures result in lower transmission rates due to people spending less time indoors, and when he said the virus is weaker, it seems like an inarticulate way of saying the epidemic was losing pace.

The amount of water in the air generally increases with temperature - this is called relative humidity. So yes, in warmer weather than amount of viruses carried would be more.
