If you go to analyse what he's written, basically he's not bringing any new evidence to the table.

He's questioning the evidence presented by China, which everyone is, and sources like the WHO or the CDC are reporting what China is saying but accompanying that with corroborated research that has been done outside of China.

He's saying the evidence doesn't show that the outbreak originated from the Food Market at Wuhan, but offers no evidence of where it did come from.

So he is questioning the official story by China, which is wise and prudent until there is a review of their findings or parallel research (again peer-reviewed) that comes to the same conclusion, but he's offering no evidence that could lead to a competing hypothesis to the origin of the outbreak.

There is no evidence to suggest that, and a lack of evidence can't prove that either.

But people will see the conspiracies online and posit that it's man-made and it escaped, or Trump covertly infected China to help with trade negotiations, etc etc.

All with Zero evidence to corroborate but it makes the reader/poster feel special because now they think they know that Tom Cotton does.  They are now better than those who don't know, they're special.  They keep digging and before you know it, they share it, it snowballs and then eventually people start drinking bleach in the form of MMS to "cure" COVID-19.

Most accepted sources are putting the number at 500 million and even then, that's not people "locked down", that's people subjected to restricted movement.

The only cities locked down are Wuhan, Huanggang, Ezhou and a few others in Hubei province.  Shanghai and Beijing have only put movement restrictions in place for some smaller communities such as building blocks or neighbourhoods.

Accurate information is important, especially when you're going on about us not knowing what is real coming out of China.  You flippantly spreading incorrect information with the justification of "well we know", nah mate.
