Why are Gordon and his fellow un-Australian bulk-buying hoarders buying up all the eggs now?

What's the "logic" behind that one?

Never stops ... every day a new item on the hoarder/panic buy hit list.

The chooks are gonna have a sore arse upping the production.

I heard someone from the egg board (?) this morning saying that they have to keep the chickens alive for an extra week to keep up with demand.

The panic-buyers are prolonging the suffering of innocent animals now.

Selfish bastards!   Angry

Oh. My heart.

I hope people buying chooks are given instructions for their care, safety enclosures, feed etc.

When you get all these Johnny-come-lately buying farm animals with the hope of having a dozen eggs a week, may find there’s more to it than that.
I guess in a way, if people are home bound then the chook will be loved like a pet and add a bit of cheer in their lives.
And maybe a bonus egg or two as well!

People aren't buying chooks, as i understand. Unless it's panic buying carcasses in Coles.

They're buying eggs. They're keeping battery chickens alive for an extra week to keep up with the demand.

So very much about that just breaks my heart.

And they're buying chooks too.

The world has gone mad:

Backyard chickens in huge demand as coronavirus shopping frenzy empties supermarkets

Idiots. Idiot flavoured idiots.

I know.

I've given up on the human race now.

It was on tv Mothra the sale of live chooks at 1,000 per week, when usually it’s about 180 per week, also being bought out are those garden beds with compost and heritage seeds etc.
It was about going for self sufficiency.

I kind of like this.
More people having their own vege patches and chooks.👌

Well that is possibly encouraging.

Thing is though, hardly anyone has a yard anymore. Just massive houses.

Didn't take much to provoke the descent into chaos did it. Bug didn't even land and the shelves had spinifex rustling through them.

I've been pretty lucky. Much of my weekly grocery list isn't in high demand, at least thus far.

All of this panic buying BS probably starts with one person or a few people in a certain area who notice a shortage of a particular item in the stores.

Then, they're straight onto Facebook, Twitter, etc. with their "OMG!!! There's no toilet paper/eggs/pasta/whatever at our local store. Has anyone else noticed that?" panic messages.

And, just like a virus (worse, actually), the messages spread all around Australia and before you know it , the store shelves are emptied.

Facebook, Twitter and all of the other social media should have been shut down as "non essential services". I would consider them more of a threat to national security at this point - same as the media.

1000% agree.

They need to be shut down asap.

They've caused this problem, which otherwise would never have existed.

I think the toilet paper fiasco started with TT or ACA.

Every bit as toxic as social media. At least social media can be used for good. The aforementioned have nothing  that is redeemable about them.

Anyone notice the 1984-like absence of terrorist activity?  The ex pointed that out this morning..

Big Brother has resolved the issues of terrorist activity.. no reference to such things will be permitted and thus the public will be saved from the genuine fear of some random violent act... All Hail BB...

What terrorist activity? There's ever hardly any.

Seriously, the things people "think".

What?

Terrorist activity is very rare anyway.

You would not believe how many people believe the utter lies they put out about people and the gross and unbalanced distortions they present as truth... as ACA did to me some years back - before their Downfall and that of their then presenter.   Shocked

I watch TT sometimes, but I take it with as much salt as I would reading one of those girlie magazines at the doctor's...  you KNOW before you start that they will present some grossly distorted goodie/baddie story, then they'll leaven the pile of cow excrement by telling us all about their personal channel show, such as MAFS and what the people there are 'living'.

All mainstream media is propaganda - Gore Vidal.

Economies prosper with rapid money flow.  The demand for food with no restrictions but all night trucking must be helpful. Boom times for some such as wood-chip paper suppliers.

Nope, but I have noticed the absence of attempted scam calls on my landline phone the past couple of weeks.

Had a massive barrage of them Saturday before last (all blocked by the Telstra Call Guardian, as usual) but it has gone quiet since then - the only one was last Thursday which was an attempted call from my own number which has happened several times in the past few weeks (added that to the list of blocked numbers..lol..).

Have the phone scammers gone into hiding now with all this virus panic happening?

I didn't say none, i said hardly any.

And this is true.

How often do you hear about a terrorist attack in Australia? Often enough for you to notice their absence through covid-19?

You idiot.
