They used to shake hands in the dark to check you carried no weapon.
And Bunnings was a handy man store. Now you're lucky to get an ankle tap.

Bunnings used to be McEwans with that red hammer logo I recall many many years ago.
I still remember the catchy as tune, ”McEwans....means a million things”

Are the stores stocking the shelves with toilet paper and there is still a rush to get them? Because 3 weeks into this madness, people are still needing to buy more. I get the feeling that the stores have been holding back, under govt instructions to give people something to worry.

Don't know about anywhere else but Woolworths at Belmont Forum shopping centre had no toilet rolls or paper towels (or pasta, etc.) when I was in there just before lunchtime Wednesday.

The lady on the checkout said they were all gone by about 9am - again. I didn't bother checking Coles or Aldi because I'm sure they wouldn't have had any either (I didn't need any btw).

I have mentioned this before. But, my last successful toilet paper buy was on a Tuesday night, two weeks ago. This was after the first week of panic buying. Now I am glad that I did get the packet. As the remainder of my last year's toilet paper purchase is down to two months worth of toilet rolls. I will probably be cutting it close on using the last toilet roll in two months' time, the way the panic buying hysteria is proceeding.

It's misinformation and an unwillingness to learn the truth.

People think that all our toilet paper comes from China and there won't be any now.

Or normal rational people like you or me, we don't go out and panic buy, but weeks go by and I don't know about you, but I'm looking at my supply and wondering when I get to the point of when I will need more, is there going to be any on the shelf?

I'm lucky for things I know I will always need, when they're half price I will buy them, even if I don't need them that week.  Which means I already had a bit of a supply of soap, cleaning products, toothpaste and toilet paper etc.

But that supply has been amassed over months.  Sitting watching TV, check the special offers on the coles and woolies app, add them to the list...

But even when I try to be as calm and rational about the current situation, while accepting the truth about it as I can, I'm starting to worry because there is still little to no supply on the shelves.

It doesn't surprise me that so many people with the combination of the lies on social media about where we get our toilet rolls from and the reasons why the shelves are bare, plus seeing the shelves bare, I understand why at least they go nuts and panic buy.

We went from everyone coming together and helping out, lending a hand, giving to others during the bushfires to bugger you where's mine!

It's nice to see you read the entire post.

Buying in bulk to save money years before anyone knew what a Wuhan was isn't the same as panic buying and hoarding.

But you've been happy to ignore the truth in so many other instances, why would it be any different now?

They're buying it because the potential is there to get locked up in isolation.

We're not there fully .... but for all intents & purposes it's - STAY AT HOME.

And why would anyone believe that the toilet paper is made in China? .......

when we have Asians buying & hoarding that, & other products including medicines & tablets like Panadol, hand sanitizer, masks, baby formula(still) etc etc ........ & containerising it to try & ship it back to China as a profit making venture.

Good job the Govt. Fed Police & Police are taking a dim view of this & are now going to crack down.

Same I have 70 rolls of toilet paper, but its because my parents went to Costco last year and dumped 100 on me.
