I seem to be having trouble attaching 2 photos to my previous post so here's the more recent one.

Great photos of before and after!
Notice no red phone box anymore.
Maybe Dr. Who found some use for them  Smiley

I remember that phone box so well - used to call my girlfriends from there on the weekends.

Couldn't have a phone box there now - the locals would destroy it.

This was the problem, vandalisation of phone boxes, if anyone needed to make an urgent call out in the street, the phone was wrecked.

I recall a bunch of them together near the Rosebud West Mini Golf in the early 70s.(Port Phillip Bay, Mornington Peninsula area).
I recall my friend calling her bf on those phones, and arguing with him!
I clearly remember as a 15 yr old feeling happy how free I was of a bf  Grin
By 16 that all changed and being boycrazy, dang them hormones!  Roll Eyes Grin
When I did a memory lane walk with my son a few months ago, I was describing what it was all like back then.
That place even changed its name to Capel Sound.

In a couple of months the demand will crash and prices drop. You can have 2 bogs for the price of 1.  Or have the luxury of twice the paper.

hehe... just been reading today's West Australian newspaper (yes, I know I should stop doing that - it rots the brain) and I especially enjoyed reading the letters section.

One writer said he can't understand the panic buying of toilet rolls because you sneeze out of your mouth, not your bottom. Grin

Another writer said that toilet paper consumption would be cut by 50 percent if people used both sides.  Grin Grin

Police taser man after fight over toilet paper breaks out in Big W

Police have tasered a man after an argument broke out over toilet paper at a Big W in a regional NSW town.

A man has been tasered after a fight over toilet paper broke out at a Big W in regional NSW.

Police arrested the man after the alleged assault in Tamworth just after 10am.

Officers were called to the store after being told a 50-year-old man began to argue with a staff member and another customer before he allegedly assaulted them.

He had to be tasered during the arrest at Tamworth Shoppingworld.

The man was taken to Tamworth police station where he is currently assisting police.

It’s understood the fight was over toilet paper as people continue to panic buy stocks amid coronavirus fears.

No charges have been laid.

The Northern Daily Leader reports shelves are empty of toilet paper across several stores in Tamworth.

Woolworths, Coles and Aldi have introduced toilet paper limits as the shortage across the country worsens.

It’s not just Australians. Shops in Japan, the US and New Zealand have also run low on the precious sanitary rolls. In Hong Kong, ambitious thieves held up a supermarket to steal a delivery.

The panic over toilet paper supplies shows no signs of slowing, despite assurances from toilet paper companies.

Kimberly-Clark, which manufactures Kleenex Toilet Tissue, has now increased its production to 24 hours a day at its South Australia factory.

Footage captured inside Woolworths Revesby, in Sydney’s south-west, shows customers scrambling to grab packs of toilet paper about 7am yesterday.

Bulk goods supplier Costco has also set restrictions with customers being told they can only buy a maximum of two 48-packs of toilet paper.

Queensland University of Technology retail expert Dr Gary Mortimer said the shortage was exacerbated by the bulky nature of the products and supermarkets’ inability to stockpile them in storerooms.

But he hinted that the best chance of finding toilet paper was to go early every day as stocks are replenished overnight.

“The challenge with toilet paper is it comes in big, bulky packets and supermarkets can really only hold 150 to 200 packets in an aisle – those packets fill up an aisle pretty quickly,” he explained.

“Supermarkets are also conditioned to hold small levels of inventory, which is replenished every night.”

People are also stocking up on tissues, baby wipes and paper towels.

“I bought a box of baby wipes for my grandson just in case they sell out and the kids can’t get any. Panic buying causing panic buying … the irony,” one woman wrote on Twitter.

Another person wrote they would soon be making the switch to baby wipes because the local stores have run out of toilet paper.

But people are being reminded not to substitute toilet paper for baby wipes because they’re not flushable.

It's probably been mentioned but people ( particularly Chinese) are buying up ass paper to sell in China. China is in a ass paper crisis. That's where the panic buying started and stupid people got swept along with it.

I'm predicting that bidets (and their installations) will be the next thing in short supply.

The supermarkets should not have waited until their shelves were empty before introducing limits.
There was never any need to hoard toilet paper as there was more than enough for everyone.
That's why I never bought any extra.
The fact is that now millions of people have no toilet paper.
This country makes me so depressed as I'm forced to share it with millions of effing morons.

Today - I went again to the supermarket -
there were no toilet rolls.
Apparently they arrived at 2.00pm and the shelves were cleaned out in under 3 minutes by the hoarders.
There was also no skim milk powder & many other shelves were completely bare - stripped out.
I still managed to get some provisions such as 2 minute noodles and baked beans etc for emergencies.

The whole thing about dunny paper is mostly a beat up.

The truth is, because it's a bulky item which supermarkets can't keep much stock of, and because they all use just-in-time logistics, even a small uptick in demand breaks the normal supply chains.

Simples really.
