Why is everything designed as a way to try to trigger people around here...

I always buy meat in bulk from a wholesaler
That's howI get Bass Strait grass fed rump for $16kg instead of $35. Are you triggered because you buy crap in a plastic container sitting on a maxipad frlm Aldi?

No, I also have a wholesaler for the same reason.

Living in QLD, our "preparedness" has always been for severe weather and flooding, especially given the number of times the family home was flooded growing up, not for COVID-19.

But we'll use it all whenever needed.

Lost power 3 times this year, but we did just go through storm season and the worst was only a 12 hour outage.

Just went up to Woolies for a cake - there were two cops at the checkout keeping an eye on things - that's how stupid it's become.  They've got better things to do than that.

Rice & Pasta GONE.................!

Went to get some none left.

It took a while to move onto this area!
With focus on loo paper, I was surprised rice and pasta was still on shelves all this time.
Then I noticed a trend of half empty shelves in rice section. And I’m puzzled wondering, why had panic buying not thought of with other more important dried food areas such as rice and pasta till now?

Maybe I was thinking too far ahead  Grin

So let’s go our own prediction of panic trend buying to come.

I reckon all non refrigerated stuff such as (not necessarily in this order) feel free to add your own ...

Rice
Pasta
Tinned products (soups, beans, fruit, coffee etc)
Glass jar and plastic and cardboard container products (sauces, teabags etc)
Olive and other oils
Pet food (dry and packaged)
(I noticed empty shelves already with big packages dry dog food gone and also kitty litter)
Packets biscuits
Shampoos and bathroom products
Headache tablets, cold and flu lozenges, tablets, and syrup.

Not sure why batteries would be on panic buy list, I have packs of AA and AAA and takes ages to use, eg: tv remote controlled, wall clocks.

Mr. Buzzy?  Grin

Umm... nope

Yep.

This has proven to me what I've always suspected of Australians: they're greedy, self-centred morons.

What is ScoMo doing about it?

Planning his next Hawaiian holiday.

He couldn't care less about other Australians.

He needs to make severe draconian, Federal legislation
against hoarders and make it retrospective.

In WW2 people like that were put against a wall and shot.

Unfortunately, I have to agree with you.

If he doesn't nip it in the bud now, things will get real bad.

I doubt he will because he is prolly one of then hoarders

Bull. There's enough to go around, the logistics just can't keep up while there's a blip on demand.

Within a few more days supply and demand will balance out and it will be business as usual.

Only if retailers ration purchases.  If they don't, the next lot of panic buyers will wipe stocks out.....(pardon the pun.)

Took me a while to get the pun as I wasn't thinking about TP, just "stock". Would have better if you said...

It's actually good that people have stocked up because it means they can self isolate which means it slows the spread.

The less people that get it at the same time means more ICU bed and lives saved.

Well done to all the people who stocked up without panicking.

That's right.

It will be hard to stop these morons, now that they've started.

Strict rationing is definitely required.

Will footie group hugs be banned?  Some of them get fairly emotional . 'Take it on the chin like a man' is different these days.
