Seems that the full page ads from the CEO's of Coles and Woolworths in the papers the past few days saying that they've taken steps to protect the elderly, etc. from the panic buying hoarders isn't working so far.

Maybe it starts tomorrow to coincide with Scotty from Marketing's banning of gatherings of 500 people or more? Roll Eyes

(And, is it a ban or just a "suggestion"?)

If there's a lockdown, people will still be able to go to the shops, petrol station, chemist, etc.

You're panicking, like a little girl, over nothing.

Calm down.

People queuing up, shoulder to shoulder, with hundreds of other people, in an enclosed environment.

‘It’s coming … it’s just how long it takes to come’

A virologist says Australians should be stocking up on toilet paper, prescription meds and pet food before coronavirus sweeps through the country.

A virologist at the forefront of coronavirus research has warned Australians to stock up on essentials to prepare for home quarantine and school and work closures when the new coronavirus sweeps through the country.

Associate Professor Ian Mackay from the University of Queensland said in his opinion a pandemic was inevitable and it was only a matter of time before SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes the deadly COVID-19, ripped through the Australian population.

“The virus is too well entrenched in many countries around the world,” he told 3AW’s Neil Mitchell.

“It’s coming. It’s just how long it takes to come. China has slowed things down so we’ve got time to prepare — we owe them for that — but it will get here eventually.”

Prof Mackay, who helped develop coronavirus tests for use in Australia, said the government had failed to advise citizens on how to prepare for “what’s coming”.

“We’re talking about the community here and what they aren’t being given lots of information about, and that’s what to do so they feel like they are getting prepared,” he said.

“It’s better to be honest and authentic and talk to the community like we are members of the same community so that we all understand what’s coming and where we are now.”

If there's a lock-down, you're allowed to go to the shops.

Don't listen to these little sissy bed-wetters, Bobby.

The Chinese are far, far more xenophobic, racist and Islamophobic than me. Hindus, ditto. Blacks, same. Tinted third worlders generally are FAR more xenophobic, racist and islamophobic than whitey.

Whitey know he is superior, it hardly needs asserting. The tinted races know they are inferior - so they are loud in the defence of their crappy inferior cultures. What else could they do? Concede that white dragged them into civilisation?  They will NEVER forgive whitey for bringing them civilisation. They would have to admit that they were in need of civilisation. Not even cannibals will do that. They will accuse whitey for destroying their peaceful native, age-old cannibalistic 'culture'.
But they all what the phone, internet,  the cars, tools, the meds, the beer and the burgers. They want their own primitive ;'culture' with all the addition of western goods and services. But they are forever railing against the evils of the west.
Stupid hypocrites like you, Bwian.

correctomundo!

Because I have had messages with my younger rellies in Italy since the lock down.
They can go to work and come home.
Go to doctor.
Food shopping (one per family)
Yes, they are very nervous about the virus.
So far my lot of rellies are okay.

The amount of effected people in a short time is scary.
Well over 21,000 now !!

I read that Spain is going to do the same as Italy and do a lock down.

My son just phoned me saying Coles in the Mornington Peninsula is totally stripped bare. He said every aisle had been raped! Nothing at all!
No fruit, meat, nothing.
Even the freezer department was stripped, only 2 packs of frozen chips left.

Why on earth would a supermarket bother to stay open with nothing to offer??
