Everyone who catches it should visit parliament house.

Just to be sure that they touch everything and cough over everyone.

almost certain it will run wild thru OZ at some stage.
we may well have a vaccine by then.

the difficult thing will be

who gets the hospital bed?

the 60 yo with a really bad case who is otherwise healthy
the 60 yo with a really bad case who is an obese smoker
the 80 yo dementia patient from the nursing home.

and if they run out of beds, those are tough calls.

even tougher if people start needing the limited ICU beds.

what if a 20 yo and an 80 are both needing icu and the 80  is a touch sicker.
thats tough.

and do you kick the 80 yo out when 60 yo arrive in cas who are at the same level of sickness

Again,  are factor .........zero

If you think even 1 of the people in parliament have any thoughts about you or your well being.

You are a bigger fool than you appear.

They happily cut funding to hospitals and patient care
They willingly cut the pension or keep it at poverty levels.
They deliberately impose laws and policy, knowing it will drive poor souls to suicide.
They line their own pockets and starve the homeless.

If they all dropped dead tomorrow
I would rejoice the passing of worthless parasites.

As for my outlook on life
I love my family, and would give anything to help them.
I cherish my friends and friendship
I have no ill will for those who do me no harm

But I despise those who harm me or my family through action or inaction.
This puts our worthless dead beat politicians right up there.

No loss.....Care factor......zero

3) Better hygiene and less cramped living conditions will also slow the spread.

You can't rely on the figures out of china. Most likely they will be downplaying the real case fatality rate. Sth Korea is a much more reliable metric !

Why would you believe any country?

Living in denial must make life easy for you groggary Cheesy LOL

The higher the number they report, the bigger impact it will have on their tourism industry.

More than 15 million foreigners visit South Korea every year.

Do you think it's at all possible that they might fudge the figures in order to protect their multi billion dollar tourism industry?

As I asked before, but you didn't answer, why would you believe any country?

So are you saying the real figures are a lot worse than stated ??

Poor lung health of Chinese from pollution and high rates of smoking would increase their death rates.  Less women are dying in china as their rate of smoking is much lower.

They have lower rates of obesity and type 2 diabetes than us so that may even it out a bit.

Thats pretty much what Im thinking, lung health is going to be a decisive factor. If anyone is a smoker they would be wise to stop now., We have about 3 months before it wacks us badly. What they did say is that Corona is less contagious than the flu but deadlier. Vaccine is coming though, about 3 months they reckon. Billions of dollars for the pharmceutical companies if they can market it  so they are putting all their resources into it. They will be able to charge whatever they want.

Seeing as the thing that kills people is the cytokine storm, I'd say it's much more likely it's one's immune system that is the problem rather than just lung health. You may have diminished lung capacity and have no/low effects from the virus like most people. If you have diminished lung capacity and your immune system goes haywire it may compound the problem but it's the effects of the immune response that kills, whether you smoke or not.

How can we possibly know what the real numbers are?

I'm saying that it's in their best interests to fudge the numbers.

Setanta,

I hope that it is a strong immune system which will prove to be the protective factor.

COVID-19, reportedly, is another form of 'influenza'.

When they come around, i never get colds or the flu [influenza].

Never.

Want to give your immune system a very quick boost ?

BEGIN THIS, RIGHT NOW.....

Try fasting until noon each day [i try to only drink black tea or water until noon - i don't drink coffee].
.....and don't eat anything solid after about 6.00pm.

Try to avoid eating processed foods - nothing out of a can, nothing out of a packet.

Try to eat mainly foods with lots of water in them [e.g. veggies and fruit].

Works for me.
