Bottled water and toilet paper
Mar 14th, 2020 at 12:00am

A friend asked me last night why people run out and buy toilet paper and bottled water when they perceive an emergency. Why not run out and buy something else? Every Hurricane those things are the first to disappear from stores. Why not hot dog buns and peanut butter or popcorn?  So, when you go into full panic mode what do you stock up on?

Passionfruit cheesecake - love it

I shop at a supermarket in a small rural town and even the loo paper shelves there were empty. I asked an assistant how come? He said the shelves were stacked full at 6am and empty by 8.30am. Zombies rush in every morning and grab the lot. I got there at 2.30pm

Everyone shopping after 8.30am and needing loo paper missed out. For me to get some would mean another 160km round trip tomorrow morning and get there when the doors open. Luckily I still have a supply.

We shouldn't laugh at preppers - reckon they'd be laughing at us now

I've never understood toilet paper. When in India, one uses a little pot of water. When in South East Asia, there's usually a hose next to the loo. Why would anyone need toilet paper?

Water, I understand. Unless you've got a well, you have to drink bottled or purified.

People are morons. Panic buying only confirms it. toilet paper is the LEAST useful commodity in a situation like this.

When the hospitals are overloaded with Corona patients you'll turn up with gastro. Good job.

Yeah.

I'm waiting for the 'Zombie apocalypse'.

Some of us, regard those Z-genre movies as a metaphor,    ...for what 'John and Jane' [and their Johnny and Janie children] will morph into,
when they realise that there will 'no longer be' any 'toilet rolls' [or even shops!!].

.

Amos 5:16
Therefore the LORD, the God of hosts, the Lord, saith thus; Wailing shall be in all streets; and they shall say in all the highways, Alas! alas! and they shall call the husbandman to mourning, and such as are skilful of lamentation to wailing.
17  And in all vineyards shall be wailing: for I will pass through thee, saith the LORD.
18  Woe unto you that desire the day of the LORD! to what end is it for you? the day of the LORD is darkness, and not light.
19  As if a man did flee from a lion, and a bear met him; or went into the house, and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him.
20  Shall not the day of the LORD be darkness, and not light? even very dark, and no brightness in it?

I found the Zombies, they are in line at Costco! The wife just had to go to buy cheese and potatoes so we had a close up look at the Herd. The real harm is to the small businesses who don't have a financial cushion. We spoke to the Manager of our favorite sandwich shop and he said they may move out some of the tables to give customers a six foot seating distance and just wait this out. There were only six or seven people there during lunch time.

The panic buyers have switched to bread, frozen foods and sweets. The fresh produce is still being sold at normal rates, the Lard Asses wouldn't eat healthy if that was all the food left on the shelves.

I was amused when one of the local radio personalities shared an IQ test. Give everyone a basic starting IQ of 150 and subtract one point for every roll of toilet paper bought during the panic. There are a surplus of house plants pretending to be people!

Well, the zombies are still lining up to get into the larger food stores. We are just glad we already have plenty of what they are in line for! I hope the small businesses can survive.

Zombies? They are called "workers" morty torty. Something you know nothing about. You see, people still have to get up and go to their job in order for you and your F A T T E R welfare family in order to have your hoarding taken care of.

I have dirty water coming from my hot water system. It would probably take a replacement of the hot water system to alleviate the problem. That problem is that the hot water system mixes up with the cold water during showers. In its own way, the kitchen tap water that I have been using to fill my filter jugs have been getting the hot water system water mixing into my drinking water. With double filtering of the jugs, it is still not enough to undo the mild chemicals seeping into the drinking water.

I bought 18 litres of bottled water to dilute and wash out whatever chemicals that could not get filtered by the jugs I was using. I will have to do that for the next 26 weeks, or until the hot water system can flush out the chemicals it is carrying. I would assume that 50 litres worth of showers per day would dilute the system by June.

I guess hurricane victims would have had to put up with the conditions we did in the year 2015 after our cyclone -- The floodwater would have made it difficult to produce clean drinking water, with all the debris floating about. We Rockhamptonites had to rely on bottled water for a few weeks until the treatment plant could clean up the flooding problems.

Well, as long as morty torty is glad he's a hoarder it makes all of your hot water eater problems seem so minuscule doesn't it?
