"New Zealand’s health minister has been demoted after he ignored national lockdown rules and drove his family to a beach 20km from his home. Last week Dr David Clark was photographed going for a mountain bike ride 2km away from his Dunedin home.

Ardern responded swiftly to Clark’s revelation, stripping him of his associate finance minister portfolio and demoting him to the bottom of the cabinet rankings. Political commentators say it is likely Clark will lose the health portfolio when the coronavirus crisis is resolved,"..

To all the people getting upset just because they can't drive south for the Easter weekend:

What about all the young Millennials trapped overseas during their triumphal lap after completing their degree at little personal cost, since the nation built by the Boomers created a very fortunate environment for Twerps?

98%+ of Boomers could never envisage having a degree, let alone a triumphal lap around the world.

Guess the Twerps will just have to tough it out - the Age of Entitlement is gone, girls, and time to pay the piper... you can't expect that the taxpayer will foot the bill to bring you home.

You made it there - you make it home.   Grin

We are sending jets out to the 4 corners of the Earth to rescue these twerps and others, personally i would leave the twerps there to teach them a few life lessons.

Harsh words from the Grapplar.
Poor spoilt Millenials who have known only peace, TV wars and slow downloading times.
Now have the most horrific time ahead.
The Virus that crept into our lives, the Economy bankrupt and the Great Nuclear War that will take the lives of Billions.
This is the Veilfall.
This is when the Millenials will rise to the occassion like no other generation and take the bull by the horns.
They will have no other choice. Hiding behind a red curtain won't get it over and done with.
They will leave 'us' behind - trapped beneath the Veilfall, trapped in time while they progress ahead... free.
This is the New Age on the horizon.
Those that can see it, will survive the destruction of the old.

Trump shows the world that even a young Ranga boy of America. Can rise to the challenge, like a kid from the streets, to hold the position of the most powerful in the USA and to turn to the 'Powers that be' to "Get stuffed" Angry - he's in charge now and he's bringing down the old.

...because it's a Blonde Aryan Angel Man that becomes the President that shows the New Age. Wink

Some second-rate AFL player has been caught down south, surfing.

Fyfe, I think his name is.

Plays for the Eagles, or dockers.

I hope they throw the book at the little prick.

I'm sick of these AFL dickheads thinking they're above the law.

He's been cleared of any wrongdoing.

Quote:
It has been confirmed that Mr Fyfe entered the region in order to provide transport services and was waiting for a truck to be loaded when he went surfing, the statement said.

As a result, Mr Fyfe had a valid exemption and was compliant with directions regarding regional travel.

It has further been established that Mr Fyfe did not breach social distancing requirements.

Hmmm... wouldn't have anything to do with him being the Fremantle Dockers captain, would it? I bet the average Joe would have been fined or given a warning at the very least.

In other news I read in the paper earlier this week there were plans to restart the AFL season as soon as possible (within a week or two) and exempt players from interstate quarantine requirements.

There were a few WTF??? type letters to the editor in the following days saying "why?" One letter said football is not an "essential service" and what's the point having all these border closures and lockdowns, etc. if the AFL players can travel interstate every week with no restrictions or quarantine?

Looks like common sense may have prevailed (for now) and they'll have a plan ready by the end of this month and they're looking at maybe resuming the season before the end of July.

I think you are still allowed to go surfing, its just no congregating out the back.

This will be an Easter to remember.

wouldnt you know?..

Embattled Minister Don Harwin has urgently returned to Sydney apologising to the Premier and the people of Sydney.

The Arts Minister was caught staying at his Pearl Beach holiday home on the Central Coast despite repeated government pleas for Sydneysiders to stay out of regional NSW to avoid the spread of the virus.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian said she was “disappointed” - despite knowing two days ago of Mr Harwin’s arrangements before The Daily Telegraph revealed them.

if he doesnt get a fine    like we peasants would....then we know who Gladys is really looking after
..

he got a fine ............ but I'll bet the taxpayers pay it

How many arseholes are going to ignore the advice to stay home and not go away on holiday this Easter?

Quite a FEW - apparently

Daylesford, in the foothills of the Great Dividing Range, is an hour-and-a-half's drive from the centre of Melbourne. It has a population of about 2,500, and, according to AirDNA market analytics, 500 active Airbnb rentals.

The local shire has two confirmed coronavirus cases, but that could soon change.

As with other small towns near big cities, many who live there permanently want tourists and travellers to stay away.

However, many also rely on tourists for income.

In the past week, conflict over whether to keep tourists away has come to a head.

On the town's Facebook forum, some landlords have proposed encouraging people from Melbourne to come stay if they need to self-isolate.

"Locals are going, 'Hang on what if those are people who might have the virus?'" a resident and non-landlord told Hack.

"What if we're walking past them in the supermarket?"

"People are swearing at each other and yelling at each other.

The Shire has closed down caravan parks as well as other public facilities but otherwise has no power to stop people entering Daylesford.

The mayor said landlords should cancel bookings but that was ultimately up to them under the current restrictions
.

"With Easter coming, it would be preferable for people to stay home," she said.

The local hospital has 18 beds and no intensive care unit, meaning an outbreak could rapidly overwhelm its resources.

https://www.abc.net.au/triplej/programs/hack/coronavirus-covid-19-daylesford-air...

So, from two infections in the shire, today - we're potentially looking at thousands over the next few weeks
