Will it be cheaper, or more expensive?

Will the airlines offer huge discounts to get people flying again, or will they charge double what they used to in order to recoup their losses?

I'd prefer the latter.

I was getting really tired of being on planes with heavily tattooed, smelly bogans wearing shorts and singlets (and their boyfriends were just as bad).

That won't bother me.

I'd like to see travel go back to the way it was.

I believe travel will be cheaper to start with when it resumes to get people travelling.

The cruise ship industry will have a very difficult if not impossible task trying to get people sailing again. May be somewhat easier for the airlines but it will be a long time before we see passenger numbers return to normal.

And, when a vaccine for COVID-19 is hopefully available, I wouldn't be surprised if everyone had to produce a vaccination certificate before being allowed to fly or sail anywhere.

And, since we've all now seen what also happens with the spread of the flu every year thanks to the tracking of the spread of COVID-19, I would also like to see flu vaccination (and proof thereof) made mandatory before anyone is allowed to board an aircraft or cruise ship since it is obvious that no screening of passengers for the flu has ever been done anywhere in the world up until now.

Cruise ships might have to be dry docked and turned into overnight hotels/restaurants/casinos.

I can't imagine anyone wanting to spend weeks cooped up inside one.

As far as flights go, I'd like to see them expensive again.

That will drastically reduce the amount of riff-raff in the airports and planes, and make flying a pleasurable experience again.

I'm sick of sitting next to bogans in thongs, shorts and singlets.

Just been reading here that cruise ship bookings are on the increase even with COVID-19 still on the loose.

https://www.afr.com/companies/tourism/more-people-are-booking-cruises-now-than-b...

https://www.businessinsider.com.au/cruise-ship-bookings-are-increasing-for-2021-...

Unbelievable is all I can say.

I'd like to see the cruise ship industry collapse because they are nothing but floating cities for ugly fatties as they stuff their pie holes with disgusting food while drunk.

Sounds like something Trump would be interested in.

Maybe he could buy up all the cruise ships once he's finished his "work" (Lol) in the White House.

Yes, he and his family can perpetually cruise the world in the SS Trump along with his supporters who can afford the fare (most of them could not).

Seems like a good to solution to a couple of problems:

1. it gets rid of the Trump family,

2. it saves the cruise ship operators.

He could hire illegal immigrants to work on the ships, pay them half the minimum wage, and refuse to give them any health care benefits or paid leave.

You know, like every other business he's run into the ground.

Well, at least the Artania finally left Fremantle at 1pm Saturday afternoon. For a while there I was concerned (as a lot of West Australians were, I'm sure) that this would turn into another Ruby Princess fiasco.

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-04-18/artania-cruise-ship-leaves-fremantle-afte...

I do wish the Artania's crew and remaining passengers all the best and hope they make it home safely.

I've been following the Artania's progress since Saturday on this site:

https://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais/home/centerx:-12.0/centery:25.0/zoom:4

I was astonished to see just how many ships are sailing the world's oceans at any given time.

The Artania is just past Carnarvon when I checked its progress about 10 minutes ago.

You have highlighted a real problem. When I was working for Customs at Sydney airport Bali flights were referred to by airport staff and fight crews as 'the bogan bus'. Not all passengers, but a significant number were people who would ordinarily not go any further than Mt Druitt RSL for their holidays until very cheap fares became available.

Many seem to have trouble understanding that overseas travel involves certain formalities like immigration, customs and quarantine checks and get very offended when confronted with this. They also seem to think that thongs, shorts and Bintang singlet are the marks of a sophisticated world traveller.

So true.

Perth bogans go a couple of times a year to Bali, but most of them have never been further south than Mandurah or further north than Jonndalup.

Anyway, it looks like Virgin are going under so flights ARE going to be very expensive in Australia once they start up again.

Qantas will gouge the crap out of us.
