white flag accepted

Last year, many members of this research team were able to show that analysis of Facebook posts could predict a diagnosis of depression as much as three months earlier than a diagnosis in the clinic. This work builds on that study and shows that there may be potential for developing an opt-in system for patients that could analyze their social media posts and provide extra information for clinicians to refine care delivery. Merchant said that it's tough to predict how widespread such a system would be, but it "could be valuable" for patients who use social media frequently.

Analysis of Facebook posts to determine depression is shifting the goal posts extraordinarily.

But i don't blame you. It's all you had.

um,

the doctors admit that using facebook posts picked it up 3 months earlier then their clinics did.

did you not read the article?

and are you telling me zuckerberg and his team of incredibly talented staff, combined with AI, combined with machine learning, combined with
Deep Text arent light years ahead of a few docs from pennsylvania  Wink

From facebooks own bragging speil

Text is a prevalent form of communication on Facebook. Understanding the various ways text is used on Facebook can help us improve people's experiences with our products, whether we're surfacing more of the content that people want to see or filtering out undesirable content like spam.

With this goal in mind, we built DeepText, a deep learning-based text understanding engine that can understand with near-human accuracy the textual content of several thousands posts per second, spanning more than 20 languages.

DeepText leverages several deep neural network architectures, including convolutional and recurrent neural nets, and can perform word-level and character-level based learning. We use FbLearner Flow and Torch for model training. Trained models are served with a click of a button through the FBLearner Predictor platform, which provides a scalable and reliable model distribution infrastructure. Facebook engineers can easily build new DeepText models through the self-serve architecture that DeepText provides.

It’s the first step of a thousand mile journey.....

Alas we are very much advanced within that journey to loss of liberty.
Anyone think they can’t be traced via their phone?
Or that everything we have said and written is not recorded?
That was proved in a documentary with SA Senator Zen what’s his name
Now that Get Smart dome of silence makes sense!!

And politicians leave their mobile phones in the building, then go outside to talk, out of earshot of the phone!

We were at a intersection, I saw a car across the intersection, I liked the look of it. I asked my ever knowing mechanic hubby what that car was?
He said it’s a Mustang, about 2017.
I asked, how much would it be?
He wasn’t sure, so I said I will google it.

As I picked up my iPhone, I went to type
“How much is a....”

Before I wrote any more .....I saw the option that came up
“2017 Mustang”

😮😮😮😮

That blew me away!

Since then I say to hubby, if we have to discuss anything of privacy we need to remove the iPhone to other end of house and close door!

So that journey of “steps” to convince us about tracing apps in phone ....
We submit to that then the next step will get us in further into that journey.
One by one.

That's scary.
I wonder if the new App which - has Bluetooth on all the time
can open up your phone to malicious exploits from criminals?
Normally you have to press a button to allow a "pairing" of
2 Bluetooth devices.
Does new App pair up without your permission?

Also - having Bluetooth on all the time could drain the battery a lot faster.

I am suspicious of all software.

It boils down to whether or not you want to help the state health departments with the job of COVID-19 contact tracing.

The app would make their job easier.

Seriously?  They haven't done much of a job to date...

Welcome to modern Australia.

People selfishly hoarding goods and preferring to play politics rather than assist health workers trying to contain a pandemic.  Sad

The App uses Bluetooth that has to
be on all the time.
That will drain your batteries.
Normally you have to manually accept
another Bluetooth connection
but in this case it's automatic.

I wonder if that opens your phone
to hackers?

We know that the source code is published
so hackers can work out how to take
advantage of it.

We need to know more before installing the App.

The answer from me is still "NO".

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-04-24/amazon-to-provide-cloud-services-for-coro...

Doubly so after reading that.

For me the idea of the app isn't the issue. Its whos in charge of it.

Ditto.

We all know this government's (appalling) track record when it comes to technology.
