Actually the usual suspects criticised Morrson as 'racist' when he shut the borders.  https://www.solidarity.net.au/highlights/editorial-morrisons-failure-to-stop-the...

Looks like the poll is trending towards as little interest as Singaporeans in a tracking app...

I wonder if our government will try its hand at authoritarianism?

But they did get one thing right... The 'blame the people' defence... As if he wasn't going to close down bars and restaurants etc.. anyway...

Courage is not Morrison's strong suit...

[Morrison] claimed the reason the measures were needed was that ordinary people were not heeding “social distancing”, saying that, “we can’t have the confidence” it “will be followed to the level of compliance that we require”.

This is my understanding of how a Covid tracking app might work.

It keeps a record of the location you and others who have got that app on their phones have been for the past month or so.

If you are suspected of having covid you'll be taken to an area that had the equivalent of a PC3 room confinement.
I work in PC3 rooms. They are the real deal, it's scary. I ask where can I put things down, what can I bring in, I did training to be allowed in there. You be very careful in those areas. They are clean to surgical room standards. It costs $1000s to clean them and weeks to test them.

So, you are taken to this very sterile artificial environment. People do not go in there unless they have to. Then they are in pressurised suits.
They want to know where you have been in the past 3 weeks and who you have met.
At this stage you can give them your phone with the tacking app on it or say 'oh, I do not have that app on my phone.'

Now, the medical system has either an impossible situation on their hands OR they can download your information and ring 100's of people and test them.

You have either helped Australia or you have killed other people.

This is the medical side.

I am really disappointed at the attitude from many people here.
I do not know if you are being 'tough' or want to display your resoluteness to your 'freedom'.

I work with very intelligent dedicated medical health workers. They are much more intelligent and dedicated than I am.
They work all hours, whenever is needed. They have been in tears when their cells die.
Whenever they ask for my help, I rush to help them. Every time, after 25 years there, I rush to help them.
We are not the front line. We are trying to make a vaccine for you.

You people, you don't want to get an app on your phones to help us.

Here you go!!!

Quote:
Government's tracing app will not be mandatory, Morrison says

The government services minister, Stuart Robert, will hold a press conference at 12.30pm (AEST) to talk about the government’s Covid-19 contact tracing app. On Saturday, after confusion grew about the app and how it would be rolled out, the prime minister, Scott Morrison, issued a tweet to say the app would not be mandatory.

The App we are working on to help our health workers trace people who have been in contact with coronavirus will not be mandatory.

Morrison added: “We will be seeking the cooperation and support of Australians to download the app to help our health workers, to protect our community and help get our economy going again.”

He said that then in the next breath he said he was keeping his options open. If less than 40% of ppl signup he will "rethink" making it mandatory.

Looks like he has backed down Spot....You trust Morrison don't you???

Huh Huh Huh

For now. Howard used to rule things out too.

You know... someone might have had a word in his ear and politely pointed out that what they were proposing was ILLEGAL or at the very least BORDERLINE ILLEGAL.

I'd like to see where it says in ANY legislation that the government has the right to force people to install apps on their phones.

Not to mention that forcing people to install apps wouldn't go down well with the majority of the population - just looking at our small survey here is an indication of what people Australia wide would think about it.

I'm sure Scotty from Marketing doesn't want to risk losing any of his new found popularity, he's 'skating on thin ice' right now as far as I'm concerned.

What would stop the Govt. taking you to court for
going to Bunnings to but some glue to fix your tiles?
They would have the evidence on your own phone that you were there -
more evidence from the sale via the EFTPOS
you used to pay and the charge
would be
- making an unnecessary trip.

$1620  please.
