You Cant Put a Price on a Human Life.

so said the mayor of New York.

"you cant put a price on a human life".

thats actually not true.
we do it all the time.

we drive at 60kph in the city, 100 kph on thehighways.

if we reduced that to 30 kph in the city and 50 kph on the highway , we would reduce the loss of human life.

no one can argue with that.

and the economy would still work if wee drove at that speed.
sure it would be "annoying".

but people not wanting to be "annoyed " is paid for in blood.

so, at some stage , we will have to do the same with covid.

we will have to weigh up people being annoyed with
"the price of a human life"

Statistics show that as unemployment rises, so does suicide by %

SO,

With our governments shutting down our ability to work, and putting us out of work, and into financial collapse... they ARE also killing people.. albeit indirectly, they are still responsible as they are "knowingly" making these insane policies..

Well said Aqua because it's true.
Already they are pushing to get the Economy up and going again at the defiance that there is still more cases in the country than what originally brought the Economy down.
Corona deaths will soon be compromised in a list of stats of what kills us everyday.

Even though this Virus - if left with the niche of Economic compromise, can flare up like the Sun at high noon quite quickly as it thrives on the saturation of the virus as it is passed from different people to others. The more people gathered and more chance of passing between many, the Virus is more successful in causing death.

This Virus could shave off 7 Billion people in just a few years unlike the Spanish Flu's effort.

We just don't like to speak about it in explicit terms.

Excellent example. If no price could be put on a human life, we'd legislate that every road would be built to a standard where an fatal accident would be impossible. Every car would be engineered to a standard that would make them safe, but cost a million dollars and the speed limit would be 10kph.

There's a possibility some countries may eradicate 'Rona but most will have to lift their lock downs when the equation of lettings humans flourish with minimal fatalities hits a sweet spot.

Saying there is no price on human life is just a comforting thing your mum says when you're 5 years old.

SUICIDE vs. CORONAVIRUS DEATHS: Study Finds Coming Economic Crisis Could Lead to 831,600 Suicides! — That is Four Times the Number of Estimated Coronavirus Deaths

As reported earlier Goldman Sachs updated its economic forecast earlier this week and we are looking at a man-made catastrophe!

The economic crash we are looking at is Biblical in proportions!
The US unemployment rate will rise to 15% from 3% due to the current economic shutdown in place across the country.

A study by Goldman Sachs in the paper this morning suggests unemployment will be soar to 15% from about 3% this quarter.   That means  from 27 million minimum to 67 million maximum will lose their jobs in the next three months.

This is a catastrophe!  The pain, suffering and death will be immense from this man-made disaster!

According to this one study, at “1% increase in the annual unemployment rate, approximately 21 additional suicides per 100,000 of the population can be expected.”  If that’s correct, each 1% increase in the unemployment rate in the U.S., with a 330 million population, will lead to 69,300 additional suicides.

Based on the current predictions, those 12 percentage points could lead to an estimated 831,600 US suicides.

That’s more than quadruple the top-end estimates of the China Virus deaths.

and they keep revising the covid19 deaths down from their original "model" estimates...

Down another 12% today...  Roll Eyes

and with the Bill Gates "modelling", well, they threw it in the bin and used "real data" instead..

When Public want a road change because they think it's too dangerous. The Councils always say
"Not until someone dies upon that part".
They want cold hard evidence you see.  Wink

Yes, that's true...

It's the 'one life is a tragedy, one million is a statistic' thing...

We're hard-wired to be capable of empathising and sympathising with a few... Anymore than that is a blur.
