Fresh air must have less virus per cu. metre than indoor air.  The 1.5m. social distance is excellent if the virus also knows it can't travel that far.  Virus is opportunistic and lawless and may ignore the distance limit.

Put simply, medics found that severely ill flu patients nursed outdoors recovered better than those treated indoors. Research shows that outdoor air is a natural disinfectant. Fresh air can kill the flu virus and other harmful germs. Equally, sunlight is germicidal and there is now evidence it can kill the flu virus.

Absolute nonsense
What the hell is "fresh air". Outdoor air is not a disinfectant.
the flu virus and the C19 virus are in the lungs. Sunlight isn't getting anywhere near there

It's all about probability.
The virus is less likely to travel 1.5m between people so you are less likely to catch the virus from them

sunlight is a natural disinfectant - YES
and breathing outdoor air [i live surrounded by a forest] is very beneficial to our health. - YES

That makes perfect sense to me.

Fresh air must in general have fewer people and virus per cu.m. than indoors  .
The air must be moving vertically and horizontally more than an enclosed volume.  Yes it's probability at 1.5m. distance but is presented as blocking infection.  And probability is more at a given social distance inside than outdoors , in general. So a football crowd is not really "fresh air , outdoors".

Masks are useless if the virus can be taken in through mucous membranes of the eye.

Used as at treatment because they had no other.

Antibiotics came along .... & the method was dropped like a hot spud.

What's that say?

The Scientists can't make a buck on it if it's just a case of Fresh Air and Sunlight. They won't back it. They'll slag it off as nutter conspiracy theorists whackjob. They'll deforest the world and set up big 'air-conditioning' factories to make the air so they can charge like a Petrol Service Station rake. I've seen the process of how they'll do it. They don't like people with Common Sense. The Scientists haven't been able to disprove that one as a hoax yet.

The reason for the 1.5 m distance is for the droplets from someone's breathing to have a chance to fall to the ground instead of over another person.

It's not really to do with indoor air vs outdoor air.

The best masks have a snorkel airpipe to 1.5 m. above the sneezing pig people. Some are fitted with leaf-blowers to get maximum outdoors freshness from above. With thermal updrafts at midday , simply stand on a stepladder.

See, Agnes? It is a matter of space for the virus to spread that determines how a virus can be transmitted. If someone coughs or sneezes outdoors, there is a better chance that the virus could get caught in the wind and carry further to the point that it dies minutes later. Indoors, the virus only goes so far and gets concentrated and protected from the elements. The virus will land on some surface and live for longer where transmission becomes greater.

The 1918 influenza victims could have had their numbers reduced during the summer when windows and doors were opened. The stress on their bodies, suppressing their immune systems would have mitigated with warmer temperatures. And there would have been less congregation of people together to transfer influenza.
