Not unprecedented for journalists to be arrested, can we blame Obama for the arrest of this journalist?

In Ferguson, Washington Post reporter Wesley Lowery gives account of his arrest

By Wesley Lowery

FERGUSON, Mo. — For the past week in Ferguson, reporters have been using the McDonald’s a few blocks from the scene of Michael Brown’s shooting as a staging area. Demonstrations have blown up each night nearby. But inside there’s WiFi and outlets, so it’s common for reporters to gather there.

As I sat there, many armed officers came in — some who were dressed as normal officers, others who were dressed with more gear.

This is a good start.

Many want all CNN personal arrested. They are not a "news organisation" - CNN is in fact a propaganda outlet making up stories and presenting them as news. They were probably doing just that when arrested.

They just settled a 275 million fine for presenting a group of innocent school kids as vile perpetrators of racism. A lie and they lost!  Grin

The rioters attacked CNN building in Atlanta probably the only time worth tuning in for them.

No protestors rioters wearing MAGA hats looked like BLM and Antifa

Come on freediver.  The man dont have a weapon, and was not acting suspiciously .  He has clearly identified himself before the attempted arrest.  He has two other persons with him, with a big camera, and a microphone.  All three of them were clearly not participating in looting or rioting.  What reason can there be to arrest him?

Er, wrong press pass, aparrently.

Probably George's brown shirts at work again.

This is a job for the FBI to track down Antifa personal and punish them and their sources of funding ie George Soros.

Why isn't the FBI doing its job? Too busy releasing hardened criminals back into the community.

CNN "reporters" are upset - feel they've been victimised.

This is CNN's fault. The police and public have lost respect for journalists because of lies that CNN and other fake news outlets have pushed on an unsuspecting public. Now and in the past.

They did it to themselves.

Karma is a bitch!

You got caught making things up John. Again. Own it. You have no idea whether he had a police-issued press pass, or whether such a pass would have any relevance in that situation. So why did you claim that he did?

Minnesota police arrest CNN reporter on air while covering Minneapolis protests.

The Minnesota State Patrol have arrested a CNN reporter reporting live on television while covering the Minneapolis protests, without giving any reason, leading him and three crew members away in handcuffs.

Black reporter Omar Jimenez had just shown a protester being arrested when about half a dozen white police officers surrounded him.

"We can move back to where you like," Jimenez told the officers wearing gas masks and face shields, before explaining live on air that he and his crew were members of the press.

"We're getting out of your way.

"This is among the state patrol unit that was advancing up the street, seeing and scattering the protesters at that point for people to clear the area. And so we walked away," Jimenez said before being told he was under arrest and handcuffed by two officers.

Jimenez and his crew have since been released from police custody.

After the CNN cameraman was arrested, his camera was set on the ground and continued to transmit live footage.

"Why am I under arrest, sir?"

What the f.uck going on over there?  Now the press is being arrested for covering the situation? This is a monumental f.uckup by the police force.

Most prolly a secret directive sent down by trump - he hates CNN

Back to the original question. You acknowledge that his dress was uncharacteristic for a journalist from a major news network. You also acknowledge that this press pass you made such a big fuss over may have  no value at all.

So, can you think of a more plausible explanation for his uncharacteristic presentation?

Do you still think this is true John? Do you think it contradicts other things you have said here?

Also, where had you "already told me" that they are issued by law enforcement? Is this yet another example of you making things up?

Press credentials related to news coverage are usually issued by law enforcement agencies.
Requirements for the issuance of credentials are established by those agencies and vary by department. One agency may not recognize the privileges granted by the credentials from another department. Event specific press credentials are usually provided by the organizers of the event, i.e. major league sports, concerts, festivals, press conferences, corporate meetings.
