From mainly Europe in the last 2 centuries. Then the Mexicans, South Americans and some Chinese chip in. Mexico, Vietnam and the Phillippines start pissing it in. Australia sends out the occasional lobbed dot in the last 50 years.

Yeah very few Australian's immigrate to the US. I've heard of several in this area but never met one. Plenty of British, German and Scandinavian recents but no Ozzies or Kiwis.

Not really!

If you lived in that frozen wasteland wouldn't you want to leave?

America's current immigration policies are by and large the product of a Cold War strategy to defeat the Soviet Union economically. And it worked. Personally, and you may be surprised at me saying this, I don't think America needs those sort of immigrants anymore.

For the last 40+ years, they migrate by the tens of thousands to the USA....especially Florida......every Autumn thru Spring......they are called "Snow-Birds" by the Floridians.....some because of medical shortages in Canada, to go to Florida to get the medical care they can't get in Canada, & to get away for the horrible cold that exists in Canada for 8 to 10 months of the year........https://www.snowbirdadvisor.ca/

In a time of universal deceit — telling the truth is a revolutionary act.

No evidence whatsoever it can be attributed to George Orwell or Eric Arthur Blair (in fact the same guy)

Yes, I know all about Snowbirds, polesmoker (I live in Atlanta). The healthcare claim is largely false except for a few MRI clinics along the border. Why would Canadians want to pay many times what they would pay for healthcare in their own country?

Exactly.

What possible reason would an Australian have for moving to the US?

Actors to Hollywood, musicians to Nashville.

Sure.  I'll go along with that.

What about Fat Steve & Janine though - what would attract them?

We have McDonald's in Australia, everywhere you look.

We have pay TV and online streaming services.

We also have a better healthcare system (by FAR), better wages, less guns, better beaches, more public holidays, a higher life expectancy, etc.

Apart from being with family who might have moved there, I can't see any reason why an average Australian would want to move to the US.

Ask Olivia Newton-John.
