Time to do the job properly, in my opinion.
I'm a doctor on Melbourne's coronavirus front line. Suppression has failed — we need an elimination strategy nowhttps://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-07-17/coronavirus-melbourne-doctor-suppression-... Quote:If suppression has failed in Victoria, one of the most cautious states, it can fail anywhere.
From my own perspective — widely shared by my colleagues — suppression cannot win. Coexisting with COVID-19 means lives lost, repeated lockdown and gripping uncertainty, which will take a giant toll on our collective mental health and undermine the confidence necessary for economic recovery.
Suppression has failed because it underestimates this virus, it overestimates our ability to control it, and it fundamentally misunderstands human nature.
Yep, human nature. As in the idiots who won't follow the rules which we've seen happen over and over for the past several months. Oh, and the "usual suspect" - $$$ greed - trying to get everything back to 'normal' too soon.
At last night's AFL game at Optus Stadium here in Perth some of the fans were asked what they thought about the risk of coronavirus by being there and the reply from most was "oh, we're not worried about that, its all under control here in WA".

We need a complete Australia wide lockdown until this virus is eliminated which is what should have been done in the first place.
That also includes no-one being allowed to return here from overseas until the virus is eliminated and then they can only enter the country and go into
properly run quarantine for a
minimum of 2 weeks - I think it should be at least 3.
Oh, and
NO MORE AFL/NRL/ etc. for at least the rest of this year.
