That's all they were ever trying to do, and it has worked very well (in most states).

The battle has not been a waste of time - it's been very successful.

The situation is hopeless.

No, it's not.

Australia and New Zealand has proven that.

The spread can be slowed down.

Yes.  That's what the battle was about - slowing it down, and it worked.

"... there are a handful of places that have demonstrated it’s possible to suppress the virus’ transmission (at least for now). New Zealand recorded just two new cases on Monday, despite dropping almost all its coronavirus restrictions after reaching zero active cases two weeks ago. All nine of its active cases are returned travellers in hotel quarantine.

"Several Pacific Island states, including Fiji, Somoa, Tonga and Vanuatu, have maintained zero active cases.

"And outside of ongoing community transmission in parts of Melbourne, Australia overall has continued to record very few new cases despite restrictions easing across most of the country. Tasmania, the Northern Territory, South Australia and the Australian Capital Territory all have zero active cases."

If we keep doing what we're doing, it will continue to slow down over the next 2,5,10,20 years.

By which time the virus will have mutated as it has already.
The vaccines out in 6 months will not provide any protection.

Probably not.

I wouldn't take one anyway.

We just have to keep slowing down the spread.

Wash your hands, maintain social distancing, wear a mask.

Not too much to ask.

Yes - slow it down so that our medical workers won't be overloaded.
However - we should all get back to work
and just wear masks and keep washing our hands.

Everyone is back at work here in Perth, and in most of the country.

Melbourne will need to remain locked down for a few weeks until the curve flattens.

They'll be back at work soon.

Many of them are working from home anyway.

Bullshit.

We're winning it in WA.

The virus has slowed right down.

It's slowing down in many countries.

It's not a useless battle at all, and it's working quite well in most many places.

Coronavirus:

Australia could have up to 500,000 secret infections

Yes.

Imagine how high that number would be if we hadn't successfully fought to slow it down.

Just look at America for the answer.

Greggy,
as unpleasant as the truth is -
we have to accept death -
that could be me or even you -
many people will die from the virus
and all we can do is slow it down.
The promised vaccines may not work
and will arrive too late.

You can't make up your mind

you flit from one position to the next like a fart(or virus) on the wind

& just like a fart on the wind this virus will be slowed right down if people just do the right thing

which it seems at this stage is something so many idiots can not do.  Roll Eyes

Yes, I think you're right.

Especially here in Perth where we're having football matches (with Victorian teams) attended by 30,000 people at a time. Absolute madness.

I have masks at home and at work - I think we'll all be asked to wear them eventually.
