It probably needs it's own thread, but:

Quote:
Two women test positive to virus: police investigate how they crossed into Qld

Two young women are under criminal investigation after providing, what authorities believe were, incorrect details on border declaration passes.

The two 19-year-old females, one from Acacia Ridge one from Logan in Brisbane’s southern suburbs travelled to Melbourne together and had somehow evaded mandated hotel quarantine upon returning to Queensland.

Deputy Police Commissioner Steve Gollschewski said the circumstances of the young women’s re-entry into Queensland from Melbourne was under criminal investigation.

“Initial investigations indicate there were incorrect details on border declaration passes,” Mr Gollschewski said.

“This highlights why you need to declare if you’ve been to Victoria where there’s been a high instance of community transmission.

“You need to think about those around you - not just yourself.”

Deputy Premier and Health Minister Steven Miles said the young women had gone about their business for a period of eight days in the communities they live in – visiting shopping centres, a restaurant and a church in the Brisbane’s southern metro region.

Mr Miles confirmed one of the women was a worker at the Parklands Christian College at Park Ridge and that they were being treated at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane.

“They both travelled together recently, including returning to Brisbane from Melbourne on July 21 via Sydney,” Mr Miles said.

The pair travelled on flights VA 863 and VA 977, Mr Miles said. Contact tracers from Queensland Health were working on identifying close contacts and a list of locations the two had visited is to be released later today.

Queensland Health was also in the process of setting up rapid testing stations throughout southern Brisbane and Mr Miles encouraged those who had any concerns to get tested.

Chief Health Officer Dr Jeannette Young said these young women’s behavior would inconvenience many people throughout the community, as the facilities they had visited would be closed until deep cleaning and contact tracing had been finalised.

“I do apologise to those people for what is now going to have to do occur,” Dr Young said.

“But we know that if we act really fast now we can stop this spreading further.”

“If you have any concerns get yourself tested as soon as possible and if you’re unwell stay at home.”

Dr Young also announced that all aged-care facilities in Queensland’s metro south area would once again be closed to visitors as an additional precaution.

Link

So, an entire school closed, ages care facilities not allowing visitors anymore and because of their interactions in the community, not wearing masks etc, it's likely we're heading for targeted lockdowns and maybe more.

This is why I've always said, we in QLD have been extremely lax on a community level with our social distancing etc and all it takes is 1 or 2 people to do the wrong thing and all of a sudden we're heading towards a hotspot.

Yet we'll still have the same voices here and in the media arguing against the mitigation efforts.

We need to shuffle Melbournians into some Shower Cells and cleanse them thoroughly.

Why isn't Melbourne being 'fumigated' like other nations have done?

I don't think we should be going into lockdown and I agree that the people can only cope with it so much.

That's why it's so frustrating that we may have to waste one on people who knew what they were doing was wrong and lied to avoid a fine.

At the time they felt well, but that's since changed, but the damage is done.

Asymptomatic infections, even if only early on actually happen.  It's not a hoax, it's not some conspiracy, these people, and those like them on this forum, need to stop being deadshits.

Now we can see why that sort of behaviour, what you advocate for Scoot, is so dangerous.

Or are you going to pretend that you're about personal responsibility, which these two totally ignored but you chose to stay silent on so that you could instead share your disgust and misinformation about the lockdowns and boast about your employment?

Hopefully, the people will learn from their actions and take their personal responsibility seriously and we can avoid lockdowns and further economic damage.

But there are too many like you scoot who want to fight the system at every turn because the decision-maker is a woman and of the party you dislike.

dude i am about personal responsibility.
i was even wearing a mask today (spraying 24D after the rain).

but i know the mentality of most chodes.
they are beaten down by life.
they have no discipline
they are soft.
they are going to go to maccas and go drink piss with their mates because thats just what the unthinking masses are like.

the preachers can preach and screech all they like about the covid free utopia.

i "pay attention" and the chance that the great unwashed are going to do the right thing is ZERO.

if you had let people like me discipline them their entire lives they would be on board.

but they have been taught by leftie nanny state losers to just "follow the path of least resistance" and that is EXACTLY what they will do.

are you really surprised security gaurds slept with residents.

are you really surprised 1/2 the people supposed to be in self quarantine arent there.

thats just how aussies roll my friend.
you cant follow the noble difficult path when you have been an infant all your life

And Jesus said unto his Jewish people who sacrificed him for their sins: "Wait till my little brother Hitler get's yas - ya bastards!"

Ahh - Prophets and Messiahs. It's always been a running joke.

been so badly affected.

No it's not. Many nursing staff are casuals who work in multiple nursing homes over the week. Why would they take a day off,  let alone two weeks, with no pay just because they have a slight sniffle?

Nursing homes -
where they take your life savings -
give you the cheapest casual labor plus
baked beans and mash spud for Xmas dinner.

Stark warning as multiple young Victorians battle virus

https://www.9news.com.au/national/young-people-infected-with-covid19-fight-for-l...

Quote:
Twenty-six Victorians aged under 40 — including 10 people in their 20s — are battling coronavirus in hospital.
Five are fighting for life in intensive care with Premier Daniel Andrews warning some may not survive.
The premier posted a stark tweet tonight saying the new figures showed coronavirus was not an illness that only affected older people.

Is this what has to happen in order for younger people to take it more seriously? BTW.... has anyone heard how that 30 yr old mum to be with twins is going? She was on the ventilator last I heard, battling it.

No, this won't be enough for the "just the sniffles" crowd to take notice.  They need to feel it personally, either via a close family member or friend if not themselves.

They've made their minds up about the virus.

And the worst part is our success depends on them doing the right thing.

Yes, it doesn't look too good.

Victoria set to announce 723 cases

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-07-30/coronavirus-australia-live-news-covid-19-...

Quote:
The ABC understands a record 723 new cases of coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Victoria overnight.

And that's just the ones who have been tested so far. I wouldn't be surprised if the actual number was at least 10 times that and increasing.

We can only go on the numbers we're given.

Note: I don't believe they are doing anti-body blood tests at all which
means that we don't know how many people have had it but are now recovered.

It's now out of control and looks like our lockdown will be longer than 6 weeks.
We've already done 3 weeks and we were hoping the numbers would be close to zero by now.
Today's results are a huge disappointment so it's definitely out of control.
Now the question is - how far behind us is Sydney?
