Yes, it doesn't look too good.

Victoria set to announce 723 cases

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-07-30/coronavirus-australia-live-news-covid-19-...

Quote:
The ABC understands a record 723 new cases of coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Victoria overnight.

And that's just the ones who have been tested so far. I wouldn't be surprised if the actual number was at least 10 times that and increasing.

Yes the worst ever:

723 new cases and 13 more dead.

We can only go on the numbers we're given.

Note: I don't believe they are doing anti-body blood tests at all which
means that we don't know how many people have had it but are now recovered.

It's now out of control and looks like our lockdown will be longer than 6 weeks.
We've already done 3 weeks and we were hoping the numbers would be close to zero by now.
Today's results are a huge disappointment so it's definitely out of control.
Now the question is - how far behind us is Sydney?

And again, when you have 15 people, and the 15 within a couple of days is going to be down to close to zero, that's a pretty good job we've done.

I was incoherent when I saw our latest infection stats,
I have given up hope.
Not only should you be asking how far is Sydney behind us, but now Brisbane also, since 2 “couldn’t give a f k selfish females” have deceived Queensland.
Tic tic tic like a time bomb.

WTF is going on in Melbourne to achieve such a high number today!!!!! Angry

Bleach.

That's okay, isn't it - or should I be injecting it?

Yes today is a heavy blow to all of us stuck in Melbourne.

Brisbane has been infected by those 2 bitches.

I reckon Sydney is 2 to 3 weeks behind us and should lockdown now
before it's too late - don't wait.

There is help for you Greggy:

https://aa.org.au/

Having trouble with alcohol? Does your drinking worry you? Is it causing you to get into unpleasant or dangerous situations? Are family members complaining about your drinking?
The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for AA membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions.

I'm drinking bleach, not alcohol.

Should I be drinking hand sanitiser instead - that has alcohol in it?

Stark warning as multiple young Victorians battle virus

https://www.9news.com.au/national/young-people-infected-with-covid19-fight-for-l...

Quote:
Twenty-six Victorians aged under 40 — including 10 people in their 20s — are battling coronavirus in hospital.
Five are fighting for life in intensive care with Premier Daniel Andrews warning some may not survive.
The premier posted a stark tweet tonight saying the new figures showed coronavirus was not an illness that only affected older people.

aquascoot et al., please take note.

that may be a game changer.
for my philosophy.

i know that in south korea, amongst 30,000 confirmed cases in under 30 yo's there were no deaths.

if people under 30 start dying, then does that mean the virus has changed ?

i would be interested to know if these were young people with pre existing issues or not.

if it starts killing kids , i would rethink lockdowns.

whilst i have had a good life and consider i have achieved most of what i want to achieve i would be devestated if my child or grnadchild died

Why must "death" be the only measure?

How about the number of under 30's that require hospitalisation?

Since you're so fond of saying it's just the sniffles, wouldn't it be prudent to then consider anything more than "just the sniffles" be something that may sway your opinion?

i would say, a lot of parents are very concerned their kids could be facing 18 months of stress related to school closures, university disruptions, job losses, no ability to play sport etc and 18 months of that is a lot of suffering.

now a week in hospital (provided there was a full recovery) would be preferable   (in my opinion).

but death is somewhat more drastic then a recoverable illness for a 17 yo.

death is not a drastic occurence for a nursing home resident.

the nearness of death is sort of the criteria for being  there in the first place.

tell me sad, do you find the death of a 90 to be as tragic as the death of a 17 yo.

i am trying to decide if i am a weirdo because , i just dont see it

I can't answer that right now.  I recently lost my grandfather who was in his 90's and I don't think I could give an answer that's not emotionally compromised.
