well, i lived with my grandma for several years and was extremely close to her but i saw her death , in her nineties as just the natural way of things.
she saw it that way too.

i must have a different circle of humans i am involved with because i cannot ever remember anyone getting emotionally upset by the death of an elderly person especially if that elderly person was no longer able to participate in all the activities they used to enjoy.

it always seemed a relief to the old person and people got together to pay tribute but i cant even remember many tears.

the intensity of emotional distress i would feel i one of my kids died compared to myself or my parents is 100's of orders of magnitude higher.

i think that would demolish me and my wife...if a kid died before us.

i must be weird.

i keep seeing posts about elderly lives being as valuable as young lives and i just cant feel it.

i never have and i cant understand the state of mind of people who see no difference.

sorry for the ramble.
i can safely post this here because ( Wink Wink  i dont care about my reputation on this site).

but i could never post this on , say, facebook.
it seems that many people would think you a monster.

i saw one of my wifes friends post something about it was mainly affecting the very elderly and the mob just tried to demolish her.
it was viscous.
to be honest.
it was unhinged...the abuse she copped for saying that.

i think, apart from here , i will just keep my head down.
ta skippy  Wink

M mum was 90 when she died. It’s not age, it’s the person you miss.
It’s still my mum, no other.
All emotions of grief don’t hurt the ones departed, but those left behind.

Once your dead... as they say... it’s for a long time dead.

Every day of life is a gift.

This virus has met the untimed deaths of elderly ...
There is no reason why that 60 year old couldn’t make it to 70, or that 70 year old make it to 80.
Or that 80 year old to make it to 90.
Love is love no matter what the age.

This virus has become uncontrolled and I’m wondering.... how much longer is it going to go before some respect is learnt?
When are people not doing the right thing in Melbourne going to learn some respect for this?
Enquiring minds want to know.

Meanwhile, here in WA, the "menace" is still at it.

Clive Palmer claims Mark McGowan's coronavirus hard border will destroy lives of West Australians

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-07-30/clive-palmer-claims-coronavirus-border-po...

The only thing that could be destroying lives of West Australians might be COVID-19 if Palmer gets his way.

In today's letters to the editor in The West Australian someone suggested that if Clive succeeds in having WA's border reopened and the virus returns and people start dying then every person in WA should join a class action lawsuit with each person suing Clive for a million dollars (about 2 million people in WA so that should be good)... with his assets all 'frozen' until the outcome is determined.

Another letter writer in yesterday's paper went a bit further and suggested that Clive Palmer, Scott Morrison (who is supporting Clive's court case to reopen the WA border) and everyone else involved in supporting the court case be charged with manslaughter if they succeed in reopening the border and people start dying from COVID-19.

Yes, I would also like to see that happen. But, I would rather we not have to see people here in WA (and the rest of Australia, of course) dying from COVID-19.

Remember when Dan said it was safe to open schools?
What an idiot.

The number of schools in Victoria that are closed after being linked with
recent positive cases of coronavirus grew to more than 80.

Dan pisses me off - all his advice is either way too late such as masks -
or it's wrong e.g. opening schools - even a halfwit knows that viruses spread like wildfire in schools.
He should resign and let someone with half a brain run the state.

I came to a conclusion.
It’s like chasing the eight ball.

Too late for whatever... the whole of Victoria shoulda locked down... its a slow crawl to get to the inevitable.

Geelong is now on the radar included in restrictions.

As this virus spreads, the regions go into lockdown.
Isn’t it best to lockdown now?

My son says the masks are making it worse because everyone is constantly touching their masks.
That’s defeated the whole purpose.
He also says it’s the same thing being said over and over and nothing is improving.
3 weeks in stage 3 partial Victoria in lockdown and it’s worse than ever!

So is there a stage four on the books?

Waiting game this is 💤

Waiting..... waiting .....

Tic .... tic.... tic.....

Dan told us it was safe to open schools
and now 80 schools had to close.
Dan did not apologise.

Dan told us we didn't need masks but then we did.
He needs to apologise for not making masks compulsory 2 months ago.

How come all the other states had the military to mind the returned overseas travellers in quarantine but our premier turned our military back.
Look what happened instead. This.... is where our nightmare began.

How’s the enquiry going with that? Started yet? Anyone heard?

I think it's pretty sad that Australia has reverted to Military to solve the problems of both Fire and Medical Crises.
It's actually quite pathetic.

Look! The Ebola is breaking out in Australia.

I don't think Dan would win a vote of confidence by the people.
I feel sorry for him too but really the job is too hard for him.

@ JaSin....Who else we gonna call or trust?
So happens that’s a proven with what happened in Melbourne where no military were.
Anyway, our taxes pay for military to look after us civvies, this is a germ warfare we are facing with loss of life.

People are not abiding by requirements for our safety and thus, military need to help along side police at check points etc.

What else would our Australian military do?
Just sit back and watch the horror unfolding?
Nothing embarrassing about our military coming in to look after us.. to protect us.
That’s what we pay hefty taxes for isn’t it?

I feel happier knowing they are helping alongside police.

And why not.

They are trained to follow orders, not their dicks, they are already paid for, they weren't there to shoot shyte up. They really didn't even need to be in uniform.

The military model
The political model
The bureaucratic model
The centralised health system model

Are all doomed to failure when confronting a threat such as covid.

In some ways they make it worse

You really do want to think of covid in a similar way to a well-dispersed terrorist organisation

It can pop up anywhere
It can live within the community without giving itself away
It can be impossible to detect
It's highly adaptable

And the forces we bring to bear upon it are bureaucratic
Slow to adapt
And by their very nature will always be playing catch up football

But it's worse than that

You can track terrorist organisations by use of technology
Cellphone data

In some ways the covid app is an attempt to do something along those lines

But in the end
Large centralised bureaucracies will always fail against a hidden enemy

and some of the things they do will be counterproductive

The threats and fines for crossing borders
For instance

If you are a person running drugs from Victoria to Metropolitan Brisbane
And you sneak through the border
Or you come across in the boot of a car
Or even just get an exempt truck driver to bring your drugs

The threat of massive fines and now jail
Means that there is no way you are going to go and get tested should you become ill.

And some people are always going to do the wrong thing
If we eliminated it completely from Australia

People in Indonesia would pass it on to New Guinea
Torres strait islanders regularly Cross to the gulf of Carpentaria
And it would come back

And because no one in the northern territory was expecting it
It would probably be dispersed all over Australia within a month

I honestly truly believe that it is probably going to be impossible to find a solution from a centralised authority figure for this pandemic

Add to this the growing fatigue with the lockdown measures
and in the end of the only solution will be that people will just have to take their own personal responsibility

A little bit like if you are going on a road trip around Australia
You take personal responsibility for how you drive your car

if some idiot is coming towards you on the wrong side of the road
You don't dig your heels in and drive straight out him whilst calling the police to come and intervene
You take personal responsibility to avoid the risk and to mitigate the risk as much as possible
And then you just accept that there is some risk
and then you decide if you are willing to take that risk at a personal level
And then you just get on with it

A vaccine is going to reduce that risk quite significantly
Butter vaccine will not completely remove that risk
That risk will be with you now probably forever
Despite Bobby's belief that it will disappear in 2 years Wink
