I certainly hope not or I'm sure WA will be joining the "Covid Club" before too much longer.

Our Premier, Mark McGowan has overwhelming support at the moment for WA maintaining the "hard border" against idiots like Clive Palmer. There's even growing talk about having WA secede from the rest of Australia thereby making us a separate country (yeah, I know it'll never happen but its nice to dream...).

Someone said in the letters to the editor in our paper yesterday that if WA secedes from the rest of Australia the AFL may finally get its life long dream of making Aussie Rules Footy an international sport. Roll Eyes

I'm with you.

I don't want the grand final or Clive Palmer here.

Everyone's behind McGowan (97% support), and I hope he can manage to keep the rest of Australia out of our state for as long as is necessary.

I'm sure most Australians couldn't give a rats about footballers and their non-essential games at the moment.

To many morons in Melbourne,
footy is the most important thing in their whole lives.

Unfortunately, it was inevitable.

But...

Quote:
The Andrews government will deliver a range of tough lockdown measures to come into effect on Wednesday, putting restrictions on shopping, workplaces and travel.

Why Wednesday? Why not today? I can see a "mass panic" occurring in the next 3 days as people try to get out of Victoria by any means possible.

It will be worse than what we saw when people were given 36 hours "notice" of the stage 3 lockdowns for Melbourne and the Mitchell Shire over 3 weeks ago.

And, I'm sure we'll be seeing mass panic buying in the shops in the whole of Victoria starting today, as well.

We'll be OK as the supermarkets are considered essential.
I think more industries will be closed down.
Really - I think Dan is panicking too much -
he hasn't allowed enough time for the masks to work.

(sorry, Bobby - I know this thread is about Victoria. Hope you don't mind)

Finally, a bit of common sense.

Commonwealth withdraws from Clive Palmer border case, Prime Minister's letter to WA Premier reveals

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-08-02/government-removes-support-for-clive-palm...

Quote:
After repeated calls by the State Government opposing the Commonwealth's involvement in the case, Prime Minister Scott Morrison wrote to WA Premier Mark McGowan informing him that the Commonwealth will take no further part in proceedings.

In his letter, dated August 1, Mr Morrison stated that he had "taken into account the changed state of the pandemic", and noted the "high level of concern regarding public health in the Western Australian community".

It even made front page news in today's Sunday Times.

I’m not so sure the mask situation is helping?
Seems that since it became mandatory the amount of infections had sky rocketed.

I expected better results than this, apparently it’s over 600 for today’s report on stats. We will know once the premier does his talk later.

This is not working.

Why always behind the eight ball I ask too  Huh

Why soooo sloooow ??

NZ did the “hit it early and hit it hard” thing... what the heck is happening here with our slow to act premier?

Why? Why? Why delay?
There is always danger in delay in this situation.
Delaying the inevitable of stricter measures? Bring it on!
We are now in mid week 4 of lockdown and no good results have happened.

Why is Victoria allowing interstate travellers to come into Melbourne when their borders are locked?

What hypocrisy.
Shut Vic borders. If that were done initially, those two deceitful females would not have come into Melbourne to have brought the contagion up to Queensland.

Stay safe Queensland 🙏🏻
Hope your premier acts more expediently than ours.

Well the Media does seem to have a more Medical focus and Oceanic nations like New Zealand that are more Media savvy, are doing very well.
Politics in Australia is apparently not. Corona is winning. The Medical Industry in australia is not coming up to scratch (especially with the guys in charge). $167 billion to the Military War Chest though. ScoMo sends in the troops to fight corona.  Grin

the population will lose trust if they keep making decisions with no obvious strategy.
once they lose trust, the situation will worsen.

dan needs to adopt the KISS principle.

keep it simple stupid.

here is simple....

are the hospitals over run?
Yes
apply brakes on peoples movements until further notice.

are the hospitals coping ?
Yes
tell people that they can go out and create wealth in the economy but be sensible as the situation will continue to be monitored.

thats simple
thats consistent
that works.

Up to 17 coronavirus deaths
and more than 650 cases

are expected on yet another tough day for Victoria, as the State stares down the barrel of further restrictions.

Because it takes up to 10 days for someone to show symptoms. the ones showing up now were infected before the mask thing

Bloody h3ll !!!

Just sat down to have some lunch a short time ago and opened yesterday's West Australian which I hadn't read yet.

Turned the front page and nearly had my eyeballs burned out when I saw this (link only - open at your own risk).  Shocked

https://i.imgur.com/exDKTIQ.jpg

If this keeps up, I'm going to have to remember to wear my sunnies before I open the paper from now on.  Cool  Roll Eyes

Quote:
God bless Australia
(Clive Palmer)

It'll be more like "God help Australia" if people like Clive keep getting their own way. Angry

At least his "letter" isn't also in today's Sunday Times as well - especially after the front page headline about ScoMo withdrawing his support for Clive.

Edit: Nope.... Clive's "letter" was also in today's Sunday Times but just on one page not spread over two. Still with the same eyeball searing yellow FFS... Roll Eyes
