An excellent statement by Ms Credlin, a perspective worthy of much consideration.

Meanwhile the other States must be worried?

Where will they be in 1 month?

We are one country except for Tasmania, my bet is we will all be in the same boat before long, NSW is teetering right now.

Masks should have been compulsory in Sydney 1 month ago.

I don't think we even had any masks a month ago, the Chinks stole them all and we don't know how to make them.

Masks are an afterthought by our experts and leaders, we will get there though.

We have plenty of masks in Melbourne.
I got 20 masks for $10.

Victoria records 439 new COVID-19 cases,
11 more deaths overnight

https://www.9news.com.au/national/coronavirus-victoria-439-new-cases-of-coronavi...

Victorians who test positive to COVID-19 will no longer be able to leave their home for exercise, Premier Daniel Andrews has declared.
It comes as out of the 3000 doorknocks in the state - in more than 800 cases - the infected person was not at home.

"So from now, there will be no exercise, if you supposed to be isolating at home. You will need to stay in your home or on your property. Fresh air at the front door. Fresh air in your front yard or backyard or opening a window. That's what you're going to have to do.
"It's difficult to enforce this if people have a lawful excuse and if some people are going to use that to try and justify other decisions - they were at no point getting exercise. They were doing something else."
Chief Health Officer professor Brett Sutton previously said people were allowed to leave their home for exercise due to human rights principles.

Huge new on-the-spot fines in Victoria
Victorians who breach quarantine will now face fines of up to
$5000
, Premier Daniel Andrews has revealed.
The Premier said it was the "largest on the-spot fine on the statute books in Victoria".
"If there were repeat breaches, if there were particularly selfish behaviour like, for instance, going to work when you had the virus, then there is the alternative pathway and that is, of course, taking you to the Magistrates' Court, where the maximum penalty that can be applied to you is
$20,000
," he said.
"We don't want it to come to that."

yeah

wont work.

politicians always think simplisticly.
if we dial up the fines high enough, the virus will disappear.

it wont .

it wont disappear until people at an individual level minimise their risk and isolate(and dont get it) or accept the virus and get it and move on towards herd immunity

this drawn out, death by 1000 cuts and gesturing is insane and counter productive .

people are all individuals with different psychologies and different ideologies and you cant micromanage that away

its as insane as dan saying he will control the food people put in their mouth to micromanage obesity out of existence.
in fact, that would be easier

Right there, what I highlighted - proves an old adage
“if you give an inch, they will take a mile”

And that is exactly what became evident with 1 in 4 taking advantage.

So now, the other 3 out of 4 doing the right thing are punished with severe restrictions along with the wrong doers.

Obviously those erring 1 in 4 people do not think we are all in this together?

"A growing group of anti-maskers have been "baiting" and antagonising Victorian police, and in one instance smashed the head of a female officer into concrete until she was concussed, authorities say."

Nasty stuff.

"Victoria Police Chief Commissioner Shane Patton said a 26-year-old police officer and her partner approached the 38-year-old woman, who was not wearing a face covering, in the Frankston area last night."

Ah.

Didn't that 38 year old woman bash a female
police constable's head into the concrete edge
of a gutter twice?

Someone summed things up rather nicely (and accurately) in the letters to the editor in today's West.

To summarize, he said:

"We now have a generation of people who were brought up with "You can't tell me what to do", "I'll do what I like" and "I don't give a stuff", as shown by all the people ignoring lockdowns, not social distancing, not wearing masks when required to and lying on travel declarations, etc., etc.

To suddenly expect these people to become caring and concerned citizens who look after each other is being way too optimistic. The chickens (or the coronas) have finally come home to roost."

Hit the nail right on the head.

Ah, yes, here's some of them.

Police single out so-called 'sovereign citizens' for breaking Victoria's coronavirus mask rules

https://www.sbs.com.au/news/police-single-out-so-called-sovereign-citizens-for-b...

Quote:
Victoria Police say they have witnessed a concerning trend in the rise of so-called "sovereign citizens" who are refusing to follow coronavirus restrictions.

Chief Commissioner Shane Patton on Tuesday raised concerns about small groups refusing police directions.

“In the last week, we've seen a trend, an emergence if you like, of groups of people, small groups, but nonetheless concerning groups, who classify themselves as sovereign citizens, whatever that might mean,” he told reporters on Tuesday.

Quote:
"People who don't think the law applies to them. We've seen them at checkpoints baiting police, not providing a name and address."

Quote:
"These people make these kinds of pseudo-legal arguments, usually to try and get out of parking fines or paying council rates or things like that."

"Some of these people think if you utter particular words or emphasise particular 'facts', it will somehow get you out of things."

Sovereign Citizens? That's a new one. Sounds like something that the idiots are sharing around on "TwitFace" Cheesy

I had to go driving today in Melbourne for a medical appointment.
( allowed under the regulations)
No sign of any lockdown -
the traffic was heavy -
many people were in the street with no masks on.

What lockdown?

That summary has put it all into perspective ...

My generation was brought up with
*always respect your elders
*speak only when Spoken to
*kids are meant to be seen and not heard
*tv viewing was limited (We only ever had one b&w tv)
*We were expected to earn our keep doing chores, working in the farm etc
*always to remember our manners
*if we didn’t tow the line... we got a hiding
*our parents were always right

Then I had my kids... that generation were the spoilt ones, with no hardship allowed or doing without as we did ... and they were the ones that had rights, to even divorce their parents... so in a way.... I feel my generation was in between parents that expected a lot from us and were demanding...and our kids expected a lot and had demands.
