We get influenza each year.
AND we have maybe 60 % of people having herd immunity.

Thats because the influenza changes.

Looks like vaccines won't be far away. There are now 6 vaccines in phase 3 trials.

Good thing too as I heard that people who've have Covid+ with very mild symptoms or asymptomatic have very low levels of antibodies and almost none after 3 months.

Participants who received two doses of the vaccine three weeks apart had neutralising antibody levels roughly four times higher than a group of 32 patients who had recovered from COVID-19.

"We are extremely excited," Novavax research chief Gregory Glenn said.

"At this point, it looks extremely promising ... We have a technology that is extremely good at inducing functional immunity. [We found] very robust and very strong immune responses that we know will neutralise the virus," Dr Glenn said.

do YOU think the vaccine will be 95 % effective ??

and are YOU willing to admit that because a lot of countries wont or cant afford to vaccinate, this will always be around and anyone coming back from a multitude of poorer countries could bring it back?

if so, will 14 days hotel qurantine for returned travellers be the norm for many decades

That may well be the case.
That may be effective in ,maybe even 2/3 of the population.

But that still doesn't mean covid disappears.
Do you think it will EVER disappear?

I'm saying no.
So we shouldn't demonise something we are going to have to accept at some stage

well, possibly greg.

if you read gordons article.

they gave it to 130 health care workers (who would be a lot fitter then most people) and 30 of those 130 , when given a second dose had side effects described as "severe".

now, they got better.

but thats 25 % of people vaccinated having a 'severe ' reaction.

for a 18 yo, that sounds worse then the disease.

and 130 is nowhere near 10,000.

if it hospitalises even 1 in 10,000 which seems possible, thats a dilemna
