Looks like vaccines won't be far away. There are now 6 vaccines in phase 3 trials.

Good thing too as I heard that people who've have Covid+ with very mild symptoms or asymptomatic have very low levels of antibodies and almost none after 3 months.

Participants who received two doses of the vaccine three weeks apart had neutralising antibody levels roughly four times higher than a group of 32 patients who had recovered from COVID-19.

"We are extremely excited," Novavax research chief Gregory Glenn said.

"At this point, it looks extremely promising ... We have a technology that is extremely good at inducing functional immunity. [We found] very robust and very strong immune responses that we know will neutralise the virus," Dr Glenn said.

Good -
tell the Yanks -
let's get it made now and give to it everyone.
Don't wait till December or next year.

Indeed, lets not wait til the safety testing is over.

They will probably turn up some really nasty rare side effects once they do enough people.
They might be 1 in 10,000 but you do 20 million Australians , that's 2000 potential nasties.
Say it causes anaphylaxis in 1 in 10,000
That's 2000 ICU admissions.
Good luck getting young people to vaccinate once ACA do a few stories on catastrophic reactions to the vaccine

Good luck getting me to vaccinate, and I'm an older person who doesn't watch ACA.

Greggy,
You don't do it for yourself -
you do it for your country -
you do it for Australia.

Will you be letting them give you a jab?

Haste makes waste... it’s too rushed...
I’m not confident for safety trials... it needs 3 things ...

Time... time... and more time.

It could be a case of the cure worse than the ailment.

It’s a “NO” from me.

https://www.3aw.com.au/essential-workers-permit-how-it-works-and-where-to-access...

Workers in Melbourne who need to leave their homes to go to work must carry a permit with them at all times, after 11.59pm tonight.

The permit comes as part of harsh new Stage 4 lockdown measures to stop the spread of COVID-19.

The permitted worker permit is available HERE (Department of Justice) and HERE (vic.gov.au)

The Department of Justice website crashed this morning, as Melburnians flocked to download the permit.

Announcing the permit system yesterday, Premier Daniel Andrews said the permit is “old-fashioned common sense” and will stop essential workers from having to repeatedly explain why they’re out and about.

Businesses which issue worker permits to employees who do not meet the requirements of the permit scheme face fines of up to
$99,123.

Individuals face fines of up to $19,826.

Workers in industries with uniform photo identification, such as nurses and police, may use their work ID instead of the permit.

For all other workers in metropolitan Melbourne who are permitted to leave their homes for work, the two page permit is mandatory.

Workers must fill out details of their shifts, address and contact details.

The permit must be signed by both the employer and employee.

I thought the compulsory mask wearing would have had an effect by now.
Instead the numbers have got worse!   Angry

These results are from days ago since it takes a days for test results to come in.
And not forgetting... there’s approx 100 a day of infected people not being found home to isolate.
Now everyday you have 100 infected people going out there spreading it,
Every day... then it multiplies...and so forth....

The mask situation has been in a short time only. Shoulda oughta coulda had it at start of stage 3 lockdown?

Too late... behind the eight hall again.

Now stage 4.... this should stop the infected 100 per every day from going out to infect others, because shops are closed, curfews in place, people staying away from public areas and staying home.

In about 4 days we may start to see a drop.

Re: masks... my son said he sees people constantly touching it adjusting their masks. We were not supposed to touch it again once it was put on.

Well things will be different from tomorrow... day one of stage four lockdown.

I really hoped that masks would stop this virus.
It's an airborne virus so it's everywhere -
inside the supermarket etc.
You just breathe it in and you've got it.

I didn’t go out much... I self isolate myself (to stay well).

A lot of self made or makeshift masks are flimsy looking, ill fitting, but better than nothing I suppose.

Even an expensive N95 mask - $10 each -
only stops 95% of the viruses getting into your lungs.

That's why we have over 1000 hospital workers who have got Covid-19.

So those plastic shields ... they must be helping somewhat?

A little bit but in level 4 bio hazard areas the
scientists use space suits.
That's the only thing that can stop a virus
which is so small that it can't even
be seen with an optical microscope.
They can hardly be seen with an electron microscope.

Grin Grin
whilst i support them, my wife reported this

she was in woolies checkout queue,
old woman in front pulled down her mask to have a chat to the operator.
then she was going through her credit cards which were stuck together so she licked her fingers to seperate the card which she then inserted in the eftpos machine.

Many more people wear masks in brisbane now.
I do

Very wise.

A nurse or doctor on ABC 24  TV said that our hospitals will be at full capacity
in 2 weeks unable to take more Covid patients.
What will they do? -
open Jeff's shed - the exhibition building?
We don't have enough nurses and doctors -
they will have to import doctors from Brisbane & Sydney?
