I gotta get me some freedom:

Police say 'freedom day' protest planned
for Melbourne 'will not be tolerated'

Police have labelled a planned protest in Melbourne this weekend as "selfish".
The "Freedom Day Celebration" is scheduled for Sunday by organisers who reportedly believe a conspiracy that COVID-19 is a "biochemical" weapon.
Victoria Police say the protest is a blatant breach of the rules and puts "lives at risk".

They warned they will hand out $1652 fines and make arrests.
"This selfish behaviour will absolutely not be tolerated. Be assured Victoria Police will be responding and will take appropriate action," police said in a statement.

"Police are also making enquiries into the organisers of this event and we will be holding them to account."

Freedom... what was that again exactly?

Re: all things medical, how is it with everyone else?
I can talk to doctor via phone appointments only.
If I asked for a blood test... it’s not happening...
no blood tests being conducted.
Gosh didn’t see that one coming with stage 4 restriction.

What if the blood test could be used to make a life and death decision?

The curfew is bullshit as it serves no proper purpose.
I used to shop at 10.30pm at the supermarket
as there were hardly any people then -
maybe 12 people in a large supermarket.
Now I'm forced to shop at other times during the day
when there could be between 50 and 150 people there.
That's more chance of spreading the disease.

"People that would be at the grocery store are forced to go home, but they still need to get their food," he said.

"Instead of going later, between 8:00pm and 10:00pm, for example, they now have to go in the middle of the afternoon with everybody else."

I want the curfew lifted and all stores open 24 hours a day to
lessen the number of people at any one time.
That will slow down the spread of the virus.

what do you think they have been doing bobby???...

and no it wont stop the spread it will make it ten times harder to check where persons have been

you are no different to those people who claim they do not have the virus they do not need to wear a mask...

thats not the point of the whole thing...

how can you eliminate any one thing     that is not working if everyone doesnt follow the medical advise

how do we know masks dont work if not everyone wears them n public.???>..

we cant use placebo with facemasks....so we must all do the same thing..

which of course isnt happening in Melb. Angry

That will slow down the spread of the virus.

The stores around here, even the supermarkets, were not open 24 hours a day even before the virus hit.
They tried it once a few years back, didn't work, so went back to 10pm closing.

The trouble is, supermarkets can't necessarily afford to stay open for hours if they are only getting one or two people through an hour.

We are only supposed to be out buying essential supplies, not window shopping, not loitering for a coffee etc.
In and out.
With a  mask on.
Local shops only.
Numbers per store supervised.

That should help stop the spread.

I don't know where you live, but in my area, the shops are certainly not crowded even at mid day so it shouldn't be a problem keeping to curfew times.

Bit of a delay in announcing the latest Victorian COVID-19 cases today (from yesterday).

Coronavirus Australia live update: Victoria premier Daniel Andrews to announce new Covid cases in press conference – latest news

https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/live/2020/aug/07/coronavirus-australi...

Quote:
11:52am (EST) We haven’t heard when we will hear from Daniel Andrews today (as in when he will step up to the microphone – the press conference is being set up). But that doesn’t necessarily mean bad news – the national cabinet meeting is on, which has delayed things.

Hopefully, it will be better news.

Given the incubation period I wouldnt expect too many drops in cases for a while.

Exactly what I thought. Needs at least 4 days before we see a slight difference.
In Italy there was strict lock down and only one person out to shop for food allowed.
All Empty streets, people locked in homes/apartments, yet it still had a horrific high death toll every day and took ages to settle.
This is what it will be like.
There are over 40 people in ICU and hundreds in hospital.
Out of 450 infections stated today, 150 approx were health care/medical that adds to the total  number of infections.
So it’s about 300 within the general public.

There’s about 450 cases today, 11 deaths.
1,150 approx infected cases to be self isolated 14 days were house checked and 1,000 were home, 150 were not.
They are going to be referred to the police and queried.

See the deserted street images of Melbourne?

I’m looking forward to some good news about all this.. soon I hope.
