trump knocking it out of the park again

Quote:
US House of Representatives votes to deliver billions in funding to postal service, block cost-cutting measures

The Democratic-led US House of Representatives has voted to provide the nation's cash-strapped postal service with US$25 billion ($35 billion) and block policy changes that have stirred concerns about mail-in voting ahead of the November 3 presidential election.

The 257-150 vote sent the legislation, dubbed the delivering for America act, on to the Republican-controlled Senate.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said in a statement it would "absolutely not pass" the stand-alone bill.

The White House also strongly opposes the legislation and has said it will recommend US President Donald Trump veto the measure.

But more than two-dozen House Republicans broke ranks to join Democrats
in approving the bill during a rare Saturday session called by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in the middle of the congressional August recess.

With postal voting expected to surge during the coronavirus pandemic, Mr Trump has alarmed Democrats by repeatedly denouncing mail-in ballots as a possible source of fraud.

Postmaster-general Louis DeJoy recently suspended cost-cutting measures that slowed deliveries in recent weeks.

Democrats, who accuse Mr Trump of trying to discourage postal voting to gain an electoral advantage over Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden, have cast themselves as defenders of a public that relies on the United States Postal Service (USPS) for vital deliveries, including prescription drugs.

"The American people do not want anyone messing with the post office," Democratic Representative Carolyn Maloney, who authored the legislation, said.

"They certainly do not want it to be politicised.

"They just want their mail, they want their medicines and they want their mail-in ballots delivered in a timely way. And that is exactly what our bill does."

Ms Maloney also released a USPS document showing an 8 per cent slowdown in the processing of first-class mail, most of it occurring after Mr DeJoy became postmaster in June.

As representatives prepared to vote, Mr Trump took to Twitter to accuse Ms Pelosi and Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer of seeking unnecessary funding for the USPS and trying to pull off a "universal mail-in ballot scam".

"Vote NO to the Pelosi/Schumer money wasting HOAX which is taking place now," Mr Trump wrote.

Mr DeJoy's downsizing drive has included curbs on overtime and removal of post boxes.

The USPS's inspector-general said earlier this month the cost-cutting measures would be investigated — along with potential conflicts of interest related to Mr DeJoy's ownership of millions of dollars in stock in USPS's rivals and customers, according to a financial disclosure form filed by his wife.

Why would Mitch McConnell block post office funding? It's a pandemic. A majority of states are basing their elections on mail-in votes - Republicans too.

What would Mitch McConnell stand to gain? 25 bil off the ballooning deficit?

It doesn't make sense. Why would Republicans sabotage their own vote? Unless - this is a coordinated slash-and-burn strategy to contest a landslide loss to the Democrats.

And what's that going to help them do? Contest the election in the courts while they cry RIGGED WITCH HUNT on Fox News? McConnell's not dumb, he's been around. Is his own political legacy so tied to Trump he's prepared to play tactics like that? He thinks he can hold the election up in the courts for months while they play the media? In the current climate?

I'm curious. Anyone?

By what measure is he knocking it out of the park? By every measure America was doing better under Obama.

Very droll, old boy. We'd ask you to prove this, but you'll just say Paki.

Paki Bottom, Paki Bastard, Paki Bugger.

Obama saw higher growth figures than Trump, who merely rode in on Obama's kaftan. But of course, he couldn't resist screwing it up with trade wars.

Quote:
Trump has benefited from Obama's economic stewardship, as GDP growth under his watch has consistently been between 2% to 3%. In 2018, it was 2.9%. Economic forecasters, however, project the nation's steady GDP growth to decelerate in 2019, dragged down by trade tensions and slowing industries overseas.

That article was written during Trump's salad days. Hardly counts now though, does it? The US economy is now where it was in the Great Depression.

Better luck next time, old boy. Do you think you could manage to burp up a Paki?

All the chars in that article, which I had seen before, indicate that things were better under Trump than O'Bama.  The only grinning you are relying on is crediting O'bama's 8 years for Trumps successes in 4 But did you credit the 8 years of Dubya for O'bama's successes, such as they were?  Er....  no.  But now it's all due to the previous guy.

"Paki Bugger" is the correct appellation.

If Dubya made America vote for Obama then Obama gave us Trump.  Will Trump give us Biden - we'll see.

They actually indicate that all Trump was continuing the trends set by Obama

Records have been broken under Trump, but those same records are being broken again, right now, during the mass unemployment and mass death thanks to the pandemic.

Those records mean nothing to anyone but a fraction of the 1%.

Everything outside of that doesn't look good for Trump.  If you track his spending and reversal of the Obama trends the US was heading for a massive amount of pain thanks to Trump that, luckily for him, or thanks to him and his extremely poor response to COVID-19, the pandemic will mask most of it, at least enough for one-liners to keep the faithful convinced.

China Virus, Democrat Hoax, etc etc.

No worries, we'll do a compare and contrast. You show me how marvellous Mr Trump's figures after his first four years. Go on, emit some of those methane gasses you cadavers save up for moments like this.

But of course. It was the same economy - until Trump started putting tariffs on things.

And do you know? It was those tariffs that Trump was trying to buy his way out of when the virus hit. It's why he didn't dare do anything to offend his buddy Xi, who he was begging to buy soybeans from his hardest hit states.

Xi even said to him - virus? What virus? It'll get better in the Spring, you'll see.

And what did Trump do? Went straight on Fox to say, oh it'll get better in Spring, you'll see. It's just a case of the sniffles. I'm smart. I know stuff. What do the experts know?

Meanwhile, the CIA, the CDC and everyone else was telling Trump directly: this is the big one. The longer you act, the worse it's going to be.

The one thing Trump lacks is instinct. He buys three casinos, ignoring all advice, and a recession hits. He divorces his wife, marries his mistress, and she leaves him after two days. He gets given an economy, green shoots all over, and he starts a trade war. He gets warned of a killer virus, is advised to act quick, and he does the opposite. Face masks, malaria tablets, the lot.

If you ever want to know what path of action to take, ask Trump, then do the opposite. Trump has survived by lying his way out, but not this time.

The jig's up. Trump will be the first US president to face charges. How he'll escape wearing stripes is beyond me, but he will get his day in court.

Seeing Steve Bannon in cuffs was surreal, but it's a sign of things to come. Trump and his buddies are going down.

We will make America great again, no?

It was actually Fauci (Medical Industry)'s fault at diddle-daddling around at the start with little concern for caution and preparation with Corona. When it did cut loose in America, Fauci could only say "We failed" due to lack of preparation and more.
Don't blame Trump. He's no Medical expert. Fauci was.
