That makes no sense to me...
What defines a mind, that does not a living brain?

Its a well known phenomenom, called the Doorway Effect.

The best way to overcome this is to follow routeen.
Put keys in the same place every day.
Do things the same way
Simply follow a set pattern and it all happens so easily

Now, where they hell is that bloody mouse?

Quote:
Psychologists believe that passing through a doorway and entering a different room creates a 'mental block' in the brain, which means that walking through open doors resets the memory to make room for the creation of a new episode. This is generally referred to as the doorway effect.

You guys do great similes but are failing at facts...

The image does not, yet should include the eyes, olfactory, and stomach, as they too have a direct line to the the brain...

Valkie,

A constant routine can help to develop a high level of skill,       ...but it isn't a given, that constant routine can develop a [desired] resourcefulness and adaptability [of the mind].

A healthy mind, imo, should also seek to develop resourcefulness and adaptability [of the mind], as well as [useful, valuable] high skill sets.

Consider;
One day, you may inadvertently, be forced to deposit your keys, in a different and unfamiliar location !

And then where will you be, when you need to retrieve those keys !!    Wink

I'll tell you.

You will be confused and perplexed, when you can't immediately recall where you left your keys !

A human brain is [a little over] 1 kg of a blancmange [like substance].

A mind can take      an individual [self-awareness]     to the ends of the universe !

I'm just naturally high on life !!!!!!!!!!!       weeeeeeeeeee !

The mind does not operate "outside" of the brain.

No neurons firing - no mind.

Those are input peripherals.......... the Central Core is the Brain.... the software operating in the central core is the mind although a lot of it is automatic function designed to control the support mechanisms for the Central Core - direct operation and background systems.

You are mistaken.

I am aware, i have been aware,        of my own 'self-awareness' operating "outside" of my brain,
and indeed being present, remotely and distantly, from my physical body.

It is called OBE, an out of body experience.

It is quite common among some human beings.

I sometimes, also experience lucid dreams.       [i sometimes will experience where i am dreaming, and then, i will wake up, inside my dream.     will be, conscious, awake, within my dream.]

That too, is quite common among some human beings.

Again, i do not take psychotropic chemicals [aka 'recreational' drugs].

Its a Jedi Mind Trick.         Wink

Job 7:17
What is man, that thou shouldest magnify him? and that thou shouldest set thine heart upon him?
18  And that thou shouldest visit him every morning, and try him every moment?

Psalms 8:4
What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?

Psalms 63:1
O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;
2  To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.

I get it.......

That's why my wife continually puts stuff in "better" places.

And when the kids wash up, everything isn't where it SHOUKD be.

They are helping me advance my skill set..........

It's my shed that's the problem.
Every single bloody tool I use, hides from me when I put it down.

I spent an hour looking for a specific socket the other day.
It had rolled behind the component I was working on.

Bloody pixies

The mind is a fully enclosed subset of the brain.

End of story.  Wink

The brain is just a lump of flesh. The mind is the seat of consciousness, feelings, perceptions of external reality, and the home of intersubjective realities.
