A wild King parrot was acting strange at my place today

While I was in the yard (unfenced) it flew past me a few times, back and forth, low down level with my waist and only 18" away, it finally landed and walked up close to my feet. I bent down to stroke it and it only edged away an inch or two each time, and it seemed reluctant to go anywhere in a hurry, it stuck around and if I moved away it walked up to my feet again. Wished I had my camera on me, no luck

This is very unusual behavior for wild King parrots, I've never seen anything like it before. It's possible I suppose it might be an escapee from an aviary and it never learned how to feed itself in the wild, it got used to humans maybe. The King parrots that have visited here in the past headed straight for a particular bush in my yard, fed from that and buzzed off when finished feeding. No way I could get close to those

I take strange behavior from wild birds as warnings, it's a matter of guessing what realistic events can happen. I'm not sure about this King parrot though, it may just have been his way of saying "I'm hungry"

I went and got some bread, the bird waited till I returned, but they don't eat bread and I had no seeds, so the bird left at that point after I tried to pat it again

Wild Choughs (black bird the size of a Magpie) eat bread. If a family happens to be in the area close by, they fly up to me when I come out of the house and it's like that movie "The Birds" by Alfred Hitchcock. If you're not looking, all the wing flapping and landing right near you can startle the hell out of ya. Some eat out of my hand. One day when I was feeding them they spotted an eagle when it was only a speck high up in the sky, they flew to the nearest tree for camouflage, but the eagle would have been looking for rabbits

Now I understand what was going on with the King parrot. It was a first for me but he apparently did indeed want a feed. He must have been fed by humans before

Leftists and the Ayatollahs have a lot in common when it comes to criticism of Islam, they don't tolerate it.

My mate the King Parrot paid another visit this morning, real early at 7am when I had to attend to an Ebay auction, he must have sensed it somehow because I hardly ever get up that early ... also a good luck charm, I managed to win the bidding war ... that was after I went out to say hello and he came up close again, I was able to briefly pat him this time. Next time I'll have some food ready for him and told him so but I think he's losing patience with me, I thought they only eat seeds but I went on the Net and found out they eat fruit, veges and nuts. I always have some of those in my fridge so I'll have a bowl of tucker he can get stuck into next time

Unbelievable friendly bird, I hope he can tell me if I'll win Lotto

My gran had a pet magpie she’d taught to recite the Lord’s Prayer. I taught it to recite a string of four letter words f**k,front bottoms etc. She decided it had ‘Become possessed by Satan’ and strangled it. Needless to say I never confessed my sin.
