Can anyone tell me why rear view mirrors on some cars show the vehicles  etc., in them  as being closer than they look?
Seems a bit weird, my own vehicle's mirrors show real distance.
And if it’s not considered a possible hazard why is there a warning printed on the mirrors?

Yes, my side mirrors show vehicles further away than they actually are - dangerous, wide angle mirrors should be banned

23y/old male crashes car into yard and into two parked cars in Sydney's west. Made a real mess of the two cars and his own car

No explanation as to why it happened

49y/old female dies after her horse float hit low lying tree branch ... two horses also died

https://www.9news.com.au/national/taminick-driver-and-two-horses-killed-after-cr...

The local Council failed to make the road safe by the sounds of things

I've seen plenty of road hazards where I live, on back roads, I have my eyes peeled all the time. Fallen branches, dead kangaroos, large rocks etc

I saw what looked like a rock on the road the other day, as I got closer, it was a porcupine, as round as anything, hard to tell from a distance what it was. I stopped till it got off the road

How spooky is this?

Male walking in middle of road attacks woman's car while she was slowly driving along trying to avoid him

We have zombies in our midst - keep your car doors locked

13y/old male driving Kia accelerated to more than double the speed limit when police attempted to pull it over

"The Kia was found abandoned nearby."

"A 13-year-old boy, with two other juveniles aged 12 and 13, were found in the laundry of a house nearby"

AIMLESS EXTENTION OF KNOWLEDGE HOWEVER, WHICH IS WHAT I THINK YOU REALLY MEAN BY THE TERM 'CURIOSITY', IS MERELY INEFFICIENCY. I AM DESIGNED TO AVOID INEFFICIENCY.

Thirteen year olds are not supposed to be driving at all, on public roads

27y/old male traveling on the wrong side of the road for ten minutes (I heard on TV), causes multi car crash. 27y/old male died. An elderly male taken to hospital in critical condition

"Traffic stretched more than 30 kilometres for hours before the motorway reopened later in the day"

https://www.9news.com.au/national/man-dead-major-crash-m1-sydney-ku-ring-gai/cea...

Ten minutes? Crikey! ... all the headlights shining in his eyes, and he was still going - suicidal

Two dead, three others seriously injured

Not enough details to comment on this one, but speed and inattention were probably contributing factors

Sydney man escapes jail time despite having one of the worst driving records in Aussie history

"Kevin Jones is also known as Samed Jaderi, or Sam Vandi, but one thing is for certain - he has one of the worst driving records in Australia's history"

"We first met the Iranian national back in 2020, when we confronted him over losing more than 600 demerit points - adding up to $75,000 in fines"

"His terrible driving record runs over eight pages, including repeated disqualifications"

You have read this article... he's a one man legal system sovereign citizen ... and, he's getting away with it, no serious penalties for anything

52y/old female will likely be free to go home after she serves only 3 1/2 years in jail for killing 9y/old boy and hospitalizing mother with fractured spine

Let's look at what the 52y/old female driver did ...

Drunk a bottle of vodka the previous night

Drink driving

Was more than four times over the limit

Was driving at 78km/h in a 50km/h zone

Sped straight through a give way sign at an intersection

Crashed into a Toyota Camry

Said: "Where am I? What's happened? I need a drink, I need a drink", after the crash

Lied to Police about the amount of alcohol she consumed

Tried to escape from hospital before being restrained by police

Wanted to commit suicide by Police
(put on for show I'll bet)

Gave the usual reasons of traumatic childhood, depressive disorder etc crapola

It seems the 9y/old boy's life wasn't worth much ... but the killer's life is worth a lot more judging by the light sentence

4 males killed when Nissan Navara hit tree

"Nine-year-old among four killed in car crash in Western Australia"

"Three brothers and family friend died at the scene in Clackline in the state’s wheatbelt"

https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2024/apr/19/nine-year-old-among-four-...

No more is known about it. I wonder how it happened?

60 people have lost their lives on the roads so far this year in WA, heaps more than this time last year

Victoria - Geelong

"Police are searching for the person who threw a huge rock off a bridge and onto a car windscreen near Geelong in Victoria"

"9News understands that similar incidents had been reported to police at that location in recent weeks"

https://www.9news.com.au/national/geelong-grovedale-police-investigating-after-r...

This is a crime as well as causing road trauma. Anyone who does it should get the maximum sentence
