when i went to indonesia.
my gp said i could purchase a typhoid vax and a hepetitis a vaxine for about $130.
not mandatory
i would have to make my own risk assessment
scomo had zero interest in my decision.
i decided as a full grown autonomous adult to take the risk and not get that particular vaccine.

I've never had a hepetitis vaxine in my life. I've had plenty of hepatitis vaccines, including Hep A and B, and therefore D

In a time of universal deceit — telling the truth is a revolutionary act.

No evidence whatsoever it can be attributed to George Orwell or Eric Arthur Blair (in fact the same guy)

And the hotel quarantine farce continues.

Victorian authorities race to investigate two new COVID-19 cases at 'hotbed' quarantine hotel

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-02-10/victorian-authorities-investigate-holiday...

Quote:
An urgent review into cases of suspected transmission of COVID-19 in Victoria's hotel quarantine system is underway, after a cluster of cases at a hotel near Melbourne Airport grew to three.

The cases now include two quarantine workers and a returned traveller and are all linked to the same floor of the Holiday Inn at Melbourne Airport.

The traveller, who left the hotel on February 7, tested positive to COVID-19 yesterday.

Just a matter of time before the entire country is in lockdown while this keeps happening.

Victoria Covid hotspots: list of Melbourne and regional Vic coronavirus case locations

https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2021/feb/10/covid-19-victoria-hotspot...

Wonder how long it will be before Dan plunges Melbourne and surrounding areas into another lockdown? After all, it only took ONE case here in Perth to trigger a 5 day lockdown for most of WA.

I imagine Dan is carefully weighing up his options. I can see mass riots occurring if he does lock everyone down again, and the economic damage to businesses will be devastating. That's on top of the losses they've suffered in last year's lockdowns.

I spoke to the owner of the small cafe that I went to on Tuesday and she said they had lost about $4600 in business just from Perth's 5 day lockdown (even though they were still allowed to do takeaway).

Be interesting to see what Dan does now.

(This is from Adelaide but I'm sure it happens - and will contnue to happen - everywhere)

International CEO avoids medi-hotel lockdown in Adelaide

https://www.9news.com.au/national/coronavirus-french-ceo-allowed-to-quarantine-o...

Quote:
A high-powered international businessman who landed in Adelaide from COVID-stricken France will quarantine at a suburban home instead of a medi-hotel.
He has been granted an exemption by authorities.

Just proves once again that there's a different set of rules for the rich/famous/movie stars/sports stars/pollies than there are for the rest of us.

Authorities assess snap Melbourne lockdown

https://www.afr.com/politics/federal/holiday-inn-cluster-grows-to-13-20210212-p5...

Quote:
Scott Morrison says he believes the state government is well place to manage the growing Holiday Inn cluster, including the five new community acquired cases in Victoria today.

The PM says a short, sharp and proportionate response would avoid the need for a 2020-style major lockdown in Melbourne.

Here we go again. And, who gives a rat's @ss what Scott Morrison "believes"?

When I look around at the sea of face masks everywhere I've been during my travels here in Perth this week my mind goes back to just 12 months ago when we were being told by people like ScoMo and the so called medical experts that "there's nothing to worry about in Australia regarding this virus" and "we're well equipped to deal with it if it arrives here" (after it already had, apparently).

Idiots.

Quote:
“They need to get on top of this quickly and I believe they will. Other states have. Victorians have shown enormous tenacity and patience. I mean, there’s no other option,” the Prime Minister told 3AW radio

Maybe not this time. So, after this latest fiasco I'm still wondering... when do they start building the quarantine centres away from the capital cities? Been a lot more talk about it lately but no action, as usual.

And, I strongly suspect that the "enormous tenacity and patience" has run out long ago for the majority of Victorians. As I said yesterday, I wouldn't be surprised to see mass riots if another lockdown occurs.

when the vaccine rolls out, i note people like gweggy say they wont be having it.

seriously WTF.

but even when this vaccine rolls out, it appears that there will be much milder infections and the hospitals will not have anywhere near the workload they would otherwise have

BUT

at some stage we are going to have to accept that covid is with us for keeps and we cannot run an elimination stratgey.  this virus will keep reappearing and closing state borders etc etc is not a possibility.  at some point, the premiers are just going to have to say, "we have vaccinated everyone who wants to be vaccinated. numbers of admissions are down 75 % and we will now return to life as normal "

Oh well, Brisbane did it, Perth did it ... now Melbourne has to again.

Hopefully, the result will be a good one so we can drop these restrictions next Thursday.  Cool

Not bullshit ... if the 5 day lockdown works, as it did in Brisbane and Perth - then it will back to the way things are today next Thursday.  Smiley
