Yep, and they were doing that last week, as well.

Unbelievable. No wonder they keep getting outbreaks.

It's obvious whatever is going on in Victoria, they can't run a quarantine hotel.

NSW has processed more returned travellers than the rest of Australia COMBINED and we don't have this crap happening.  Huh

I agree but theres enough blame to go around. OK, the states can't run the hotels or cant do tracing etc, but in terms of quarantine, whose responsibility is it, and why hasn't that Department/Minister come to the rescue

Probably right as a political move at least, Feds should step in to rub Dans nose in it.

Actually they should have stepped in from the beginning since Quarantine is Duttons responsibility.

Not that simple, as you know, health is run by the states so the Feds would have to develop from scratch and duplicate a lot of positions. A federal white paper plus standards checks would work best.

Quarantine isn't health. My understanding though is that its even worse since the states generally agreed to take it over since they weren't confident in the Feds ability to handle it.

Lets not forget one thing though, yes mistakes were made by state, fed government in this country. But overall, we've done really really well. Just take one look at the US

And also had problems with hotel quarantine.

Or should I say lack of quarantine altogether in the initial stages.

Come on Gnads, should what happened at the very beginning of the pandemic when the world was working out how to handle it be judged by repetitive mistakes a year later?

And if you want to talk about quarantine numbers, nsw has processed more retuned travellers than the rest of the states combined.

The proof is in the pudding, NSW has been crushing it, we've been open.

Victoria?

It's not a pissing competition .... & NSW may be open ...... but open to its self ... coz you weren't open to us ...

and we've been crushing it just as much.

The only problem has been travellers from interstate lying on their paperwork for entry.

The hotels they are using are not suitable for the purpose of  infectious  aerosol transmissible virus isolation.

Have not been from the start so we have been extremely lucky.

People requiring quarantine should be isolated in isolation ....... not in the middle of a CBD in infrastructure not built for purpose.

Yep, as I said compared to the US even with the events in VIc we've done bloody well.

So you said - & like I said.

And Sydney is the most populous city in the country ......

shall I go on?

QLDers overall are very happy with the actions of the Premier.

You tell hot pants Gladys to keep up the good work & look after NSW & stop poking her nose(huge) into the affairs of other states.

No worries.  Wink

It would be pretty tense in VIC tonight, how many new cases will it take for dastardly Dan to extend the snap lock down.

People are sweating bullets and don't know when to end their benders.

Dan wants somewhere safe to house the quarantined people but
no where is safe to contain people with Covid-19.

A level 4 bio hazard research facility where such viruses are studied
has the scientists dressed in 4 layer space suits with external air supply.

A couple of more mutations of this virus or a couple of more new more vicious viruses and the whole human race will need those suits to survive.

Yes -
I worry that the vaccines will never keep up with the mutations.
This way of life could be normal forever.

So far the mutations have only been slight and i doubt the experts know if this will remain the norm, we all know more viruses will come and more frequently via wet markets population etc, we are in the lap of the Gods and evolution, eating bats is a shot over the bow of the human race, the other viruses over the last 100yrs were only warning shots.

The coronavirus outbreak that prompted Victoria's snap lockdown has been brought "under control", with the state recording zero new cases from nearly 40,000 test results in the past day.

Today Premier Daniel Andrews announced the lockdown would end at 11:59pm,

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-02-17/victoria-records-zero-coronavirus-cases-f...

So will those claiming that Dan was going to extend the lockdown admit they were wrong?

Hello stage 4 my old friend again!

Thank goodness we got to go to Qld last month, and yesterday going down to the Mornington peninsula...

I’ve got heaps to do at home for this next week... and lotsa cooking too!

I feel sorry for those that have an event on for the weekend.
Snap lockdown decision and everyone is nervous to organise anything anymore.

I know this lockdown is until next Wednesday... but... it could be taken further... would not surprise me.[/highlight]

Stay tuned ...

What’s that Barnacle?
Your hindsight is so ... 20/20 aye?  Wink

People with weddings last weekend went into disarray and I have friends that work in the Yarra Valley wedding venues, telling me the brides to be, were in tears, as all arrangements of flowers and food gone to spoil due to sudden lockdown.
And then the special events due for this weekend ... all were waiting in sheer nervous nail biting anticipation, and yes... as they say... by their (politicians) habits we shall know them... we had such a long lockdown with “just a couple more weeks” announcements like ground hog day,  that went on for months.

So is it any wonder, even myself, thinking we would not be surprised if it went longer than 5 days?
All the heart break, loss of business and personal losses, you expect an apology?
Are you Dan’s go-to-fix-it-man or something?

As for the corona virus situation... since another hotel bungle up occurred with breakouts... can you predict which way that would go? Therefore, everyone’s doubts of it being a short 5 day lockdown is totally justified.
