Did Dr. Gerrard also tell you that in an email reply?

Is he still in the room with you now?  Roll Eyes

Must be getting close to the time where you need to send me another white flag or two but please don't send them by Express Post (next day parcel delivery), I still haven't made room for all of the others that you (and Sir Nail) have sent me lately.

"Health Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson and WA’s top doctor, Dr Andy Robertson, have joined forces"

And what a great 'meeting of minds' that must have been.  Roll Eyes

A Health Minister who knows more about business and hospitality than she does about health and a Chief Health Officer who's almost as useless as aquascoot's hero in Queensland (he's a lot less 'outspoken' than Dr. Gerrard but that's probably because Mark McGowan has him on a tighter 'leash' - like the rest of Australia's Premiers do with their CHO's).

Mind you, Dr. Gerrard has been a bit quiet lately as well so I wouldn't be surprised if Annastacia has tightened the 'leash' on him too.

Quote:
Dr Robertson said, “the best way to avoid getting the flu is to get a vaccination”.

No it isn't - the vaccinations help to a certain extent but they don't stop you catching and spreading the flu (or Covid). Just say it, d*head - wear a high quality mask.

The last time my elderly aunt and I had the flu was in 2019. We'd both had our flu vaccinations and we both caught the flu twice... and it was bad for us both times.

Quote:
“I also have some other very simple messages for the community this winter. If you are sick, stay home. Wash or sanitise your hands regularly, cover coughs, and, importantly, get vaccinated against flu and COVID-19,” Dr Robertson said.

Yep, just keep washing and sanitising those hands and I'm sure everything will be fine (if the government's plan is to continue the 'culling' of the elderly and vulnerable to save more money on pensions and healthcare costs).

I still feel sorry for the elderly people I see every time I go to Belmont Forum who dilgently sanitise their hands and shopping trolley handles (with the sanitiser helpfully provided at the entrances to Coles and Woolies) but never wear a mask. Especially when other people are coughing and sneezing nearby.

Heard a little kid constantly hacking up a lung in Woolies at Maddington Central on Saturday afternoon. I didn't see the kid or the parent(s) but I'm sure they must have been thinking that it was all perfectly normal. And I'll bet they weren't wearing masks.

Perhaps aquascoot should shoot off another quick email to Dr. Death Gerrard and ask him what he plans to do about this?

Data reveals Queensland health crisis at worst-ever level as Palaszczuk government slammed for failing to heal 'broken system'

Quote:
Shocking new figures have revealed the declining state of Queensland’s healthcare system as ambulance ramping rates in the state climb to the worst across Australia.

The data shows the sunshine state’s health crisis at an all-time low with hundreds of thousands of Queenslanders bearing the brunt of under resourced public health services on a regular.

According to the statistics, service provision in hospitals across the state are severely delayed with patients having to wait “dangerously” long periods before being attended to.

Ambulance ramping is at a peak of 43 per cent (from a previously recorded high of 41 per cent in March), emergency department patients not seen within clinically recommended times have inched up to 29 per cent, and elective surgery patients not seen on time are up from 22 to 23.7 per cent.

And perhaps you should also ask Dr. Gerrard about what he believes is responsible for this?

Hint #1: 5 letters, starts with C and it isn't mentioned anywhere in the article. Could also now include a 3 letter word starting with F and that isn't mentioned either.

Hint #2: Both of these things could be controlled by wearing a mask.

Let's see what a few people have to say, shall we?

Scroll down for the replies.

Anyway... this is a WA Covid thread so 'normal service' will now be resumed.

So predictable.

From today's The West Australian.

Tucked away in the bottom left hand corner of page 12. The only mention of Covid I could find (might be a few more "post COVID" and "post pandemic" mentions in the business section but I didn't look that far).

Flu cases up... Covid cases down (only because hardly anyone is reporting their cases, of course).

Nothing about the 15 WA Covid deaths reported last week, of course. Or the 183 deaths for the whole of Australia or Australia passing 21,000 Covid deaths.

That's funny.

When COVID first started and the conspiracy theorists said that hospital staff were being paid to incorrectly record deaths as being caused by COVID, you agreed.

Honestly, there's definitely some real weirdness going on these days with a lot of people and it seems to be getting worse.

My aunt and I were sitting on a seat outside Woolworths at Maddington Central this afternoon, wearing our masks as usual and I was watching a guy who was about to go into the nearby chemist.

Before he went in he looked at me and pulled his black shirt or jumper over his mouth and nose to make it look like he had a mask on (I guess?) then he pulled it down again, nodded and went into the chemist.

A couple of minutes later he came out again with his wife or girlfriend and they walked right past my aunt and I without saying a word. I was looking at him but he avoided eye contact with both of us and just kept walking.

I wonder - as well as warding off vampires and werewolves does garlic also ward off Covid zombies because they seem to be on the increase.  Shocked

Might have to take some with me next time I'm shopping and find out.  Undecided

Went up to Belmont Forum this morning to do a bit of shopping. Public holiday (WA Day) today so most of the the shops were not open until 11am. They could have opened at 8am like Coles and Woolies but it's not very busy early on - especially with the weather we're having at the moment.

Saw very few people besides myself wearing a mask, of course.

They were giving away more of Mark McGowan's half a billion dollars worth of RATs at the Forum all last week before they expire. I grabbed quite a few for myself during the week, these ones expire in February 2024.

Yesterday (Sunday) was the last day they were giving them away at the Forum. When I went there this morning the desk was still there but what made me laugh was there were still dozens of RATs behind the desk with the trolleys they were using to take them away.

I immediately thought of government workers - they must have been watching the clock just before knock off time yesterday and as soon as it was exactly 5pm (or whatever time they finished) they would have gone home and left the rest of the RATs until Tuesday.  Grin

Mind you, they might also have been hoping that people will help themselves to the ones still there today so they don't have to move them all tomorrow.. if I'd wanted a few more I would have grabbed them myself.. lol.

Complacent indeed.

Two articles from today's The West Australian.

The one on the left was on page 3 but it 'conveniently' doesn't mention Covid deaths and hospitalisations.

"Almost 75 percent of Australians believed that a year from now, COVID would be viewed in a similar way to seasonal flu".

I wonder if it would still be 75 percent if everyone read the smaller article on the right which was neatly 'tucked away' in the bottom right hand corner of page 66?

Oh how I long for the days when ONE SINGLE COVID CASE escaping from hotel quarantine made front page news.

Also, the free RATs at Belmont Forum were still there this week. I asked the lady behind the counter on Wednesday and she said their last day was this Sunday, not last Sunday.

While I'm here...

The weekly "Top 10" from Perth Lord Mayor (and total idiot) Basil Zempilas in today's paper.

#4 tells us all we need to know (and many of us have known it for a long time).

"2020 just called and they want their brochure back"

At this point in time I believe it is pretty safe to say the WA Department of Health is just trolling.

Same as every other Health Department in Australia (especially Queensland's, eh, aquascoot?).

https://twitter.com/EcuNurse/status/1668497676932116482

Quote:
This is the WA Government’s Health Promotion Brochure to prevent COVID, influenza and other respiratory infections

Quote:
Believe it or not, it was produced by Immunisation Program, Dept of Health, WA, and is currently. available for you to read at your local GP.
It advises you to get your influenza vaccine.
No mention of a COVID vaccine.
Disgraceful.

And no mention of masks of course... what a surprise.  Roll Eyes

Why isn’t it a picture of people masked up in N95 and smiling like normal?
Because washing your hands is just basic hygiene it’s not getting prevent you getting an airborne virus like flu or covid.

Yes, we know. And our governments know too.

But, masks allegedly remind people that the pandemic isn't over and stops them spending and we can't have that now, can we?

Great news that only 13.4% of Australian health practitioners are yet to catch up to the 1850s!
At this rate we’ll have the current airborne pandemic mostly under control by the 2190s

Funny but probably true.
