And what a great 'meeting of minds' that must have been. 

A Health Minister who knows more about business and hospitality than she does about health and a Chief Health Officer who's almost as useless as aquascoot's hero in Queensland (he's a lot less 'outspoken' than Dr. Gerrard but that's probably because Mark McGowan has him on a tighter 'leash' - like the rest of Australia's Premiers do with their CHO's).

Mind you, Dr. Gerrard has been a bit quiet lately as well so I wouldn't be surprised if Annastacia has tightened the 'leash' on him too.

The last time my elderly aunt and I had the flu was in 2019. We'd both had our flu vaccinations and we both caught the flu twice... and it was bad for us both times.

I still feel sorry for the elderly people I see every time I go to Belmont Forum who dilgently sanitise their hands and shopping trolley handles (with the sanitiser helpfully provided at the entrances to Coles and Woolies) but never wear a mask. Especially when other people are coughing and sneezing nearby.

Heard a little kid constantly hacking up a lung in Woolies at Maddington Central on Saturday afternoon. I didn't see the kid or the parent(s) but I'm sure they must have been thinking that it was all perfectly normal. And I'll bet they weren't wearing masks.

Perhaps aquascoot should shoot off another quick email to Dr. Death Gerrard and ask him what he plans to do about this?

Anyway... this is a WA Covid thread so 'normal service' will now be resumed.

So predictable.

From today's The West Australian.

Tucked away in the bottom left hand corner of page 12. The only mention of Covid I could find (might be a few more "post COVID" and "post pandemic" mentions in the business section but I didn't look that far).

Flu cases up... Covid cases down (only because hardly anyone is reporting their cases, of course).

Nothing about the 15 WA Covid deaths reported last week, of course. Or the 183 deaths for the whole of Australia or Australia passing 21,000 Covid deaths.

Honestly, there's definitely some real weirdness going on these days with a lot of people and it seems to be getting worse.

My aunt and I were sitting on a seat outside Woolworths at Maddington Central this afternoon, wearing our masks as usual and I was watching a guy who was about to go into the nearby chemist.

Before he went in he looked at me and pulled his black shirt or jumper over his mouth and nose to make it look like he had a mask on (I guess?) then he pulled it down again, nodded and went into the chemist.

A couple of minutes later he came out again with his wife or girlfriend and they walked right past my aunt and I without saying a word. I was looking at him but he avoided eye contact with both of us and just kept walking.

I wonder - as well as warding off vampires and werewolves does garlic also ward off Covid zombies because they seem to be on the increase. 

Might have to take some with me next time I'm shopping and find out. 

Complacent indeed.

Two articles from today's The West Australian.

The one on the left was on page 3 but it 'conveniently' doesn't mention Covid deaths and hospitalisations.

"Almost 75 percent of Australians believed that a year from now, COVID would be viewed in a similar way to seasonal flu".

I wonder if it would still be 75 percent if everyone read the smaller article on the right which was neatly 'tucked away' in the bottom right hand corner of page 66?

Oh how I long for the days when ONE SINGLE COVID CASE escaping from hotel quarantine made front page news.

Also, the free RATs at Belmont Forum were still there this week. I asked the lady behind the counter on Wednesday and she said their last day was this Sunday, not last Sunday.

"2020 just called and they want their brochure back"

At this point in time I believe it is pretty safe to say the WA Department of Health is just trolling.

Same as every other Health Department in Australia (especially Queensland's, eh, aquascoot?).
