Submersibles imploding (although it was just missing when this was printed).

People still dying from COVID-19 (149 this week including another 4 in WA).

People can't afford their rents and mortgages.

Etc., etc.

And, the big "news" story (according to yesterday's The West Australian anyway) was..... *drum roll*...

"Tay-Tay" isn't coming to Perth for a concert. Roll Eyes

5 concerts in Sydney and Melbourne only next February at this stage.

It was on pages 4 and 5 but it probably would have made it onto pages 2 and 3 if the full 2 page Hardly Normal ad hadn't taken the spot first.

They even went to great pains to let us know that WA Tourism Minister Rita Saffioti's 11 year old daughter is a big Tay-Tay fan and is most upset and wants her to reconsider coming to Perth.

Cry me a river.

Meanwhile, "fans" are apparently rushing to book flights to Sydney and Melbourne for next February and they're worried the airlines are now going to increase fares and rip them off... lol... they probably will.

This world is seriously screwed up without a shadow of a doubt.

Oh, I haven't been around much this week and might not be for a while.

My 93 year old aunt slipped and fell when she was going to the toilet just before midnight Sunday.

She's now in Royal Perth Hospital, she had operations for a fractured left hip and wrist on Wednesday and she's doing OK at the moment.

The biggest worry of course is Covid and the flu and I wasn't exactly filled with enthusiasm when I went in there Tuesday evening to talk to the doctors before the operations the following day... hardly any staff wearing masks (I was wearing mine of course and they still had my aunt's mask on at the time as well) and the few that were had 'baggy blues' mostly hanging under their noses and chins.

Heard a few spicy coughs here and there as well... especially from the waiting patients when I walked through the waiting area of the Emergency Department to get to where my aunt and the doctors were at the time.

Freaking unbelievable.

Sorry to hear that - I hope she's doing okay.

I guess they'll put her up in 7A.

They put the COVID patients up the end of the corridor in that ward. Stay away from those end rooms Wink

Usually a few trolleys around with lots of good quality masks, so make use of those.

She was in 5G when I went to see her yesterday and she was still there this morning when the hospital pharmacist called to ask about what tablets and other medications she takes.

She was next to the window when I went yesterday - the original helipad was right outside (they've built a new one a couple of years back as you probably know).

The plan now is to get her walking again as soon as possible of course.

My cousin and his wife were going to visit her this afternoon and a couple of my friends (my former boss from Fairlanes Bowl and his wife actually) plan to see her on Sunday afternoon.

She's only allowed to have 2 visitors at a time - and she insists we don't go and visit her every day.. lol.. we really couldn't manage it anyway but I'll probably go and see her on Monday.

Ah yes, my mother has been in that room a few times, back when the helicopter actually used that helipad

I received an email from my cousin and his wife earlier this evening after they visited my aunt today. She's already on her feet and she walked 'around the block' (presumably the ward) with the nurse today and she's doing fine so far.

In fact, her wrist seems to be giving her more trouble than her hip. Might visit her again on Monday on the way back from her GP after I go there to pick up a couple of new scripts for my aunt's tablets that she has daily.
