I hope your father is OK, Setanta.

That's the problem with our hospitals and aged care places - when they have a Covid outbreak masks and other protections are brought back but as soon as it's under control they start to 'relax' again... no masks or other precautions taken until the next outbreak.

I saw the same thing happening at the transition care place my aunt was in for 2 months before she came home in early September but at least they had mandatory negative RATs for visitors and staff the whole time she was there (even though you can have Covid and be infectious for up to 2 days before RATs show a positive result).

Well... well... well...

... imagine seeing something like this after 2 huge Coldplay concerts at Optus Stadium the weekend before last and School Leavers Week last week.

COVID-19 wastewater surveillance

Makes an absolute mockery of our hapless State Health Minister, Amber-Jade Sanderson and equally incompetent Premier Roger Cook being "concerned" about Covid cases in WA getting close to 500 per week.

As I've said before.... 50,000 new cases per week would probably be closer to the real number if everyone was getting tested and they could report their positive RATs.

And, I'm betting most of these cases are re-infections.

dr gerrard (world reknowned expert) confirms

Dr Gerrard said the current admissions were still much lower in comparison to Queensland's two large COVID waves in 2022, which saw hospitalisations peak at about 1,000 patients, alongside two smaller waves which saw about 500 people admitted the same year.

While I'm absolutely certain it's "quiet" in Nowheresville, Outback Queensland (population:10) that doesn't seem to be the case for the rest of the State.

Queensland paramedics are being so run off their feet they’re skipping meals on shift.

Here's the data on 7th July 2022 when the COVID levels in wastewater were equivalent to what we are seeing today.

And we're told that cases in WA are currently getting close to 500 a week.

Pig's arse they are... there would have to be at least 30,000 active cases right now... probably a lot more.

What's the bet that the WA government (and the rest of the States) will soon stop reporting Covid wastewater levels seeing as it's the only reliable means left to determine how much Covid is in the population?
