hi carl

thsts not an arguement.

It's not meant to be an argument, just a statement of fact (in my humble opinion).

Quote:
so 30,000 cases and the public dont care.

That's because the majority of them don't know. All they have been told by Premier Roger Cook and the useless Amber-Jade Sanderson (our State Health Minister who knows more about business and hospitality than health - and it shows) is that they're "concerned" about reported Covid cases in WA getting close to 500 a week (lol).

Quote:
clearly if this was more then the sniffles , they would care  Grin Grin Grin

No... no, they wouldn't. Especially when we have so called leaders like Chris Minns in NSW who wouldn't isolate himself even when he obviously has Covid.

Not enough handwashing and taking personal responsibility by Chris, apparently.  Roll Eyes

Only if the government and media reported it. And even then I'm not sure the majority of Australians would know or even care.

They don't want to "see" anything apart from their next holiday, what's for dinner and what's on Netflix tonight.

And... most of them consider it to be somebody else's problem.

Covid anxiety?

I'll let the esteemed Dr. David Berger (a real medical doctor) answer that one for you.

Quote:

As long as they're buying (holidays, shopping and spending) for Christmas that's all the government and business cares about at the moment.

If Dr burger wants to Pander to hypochondriacs to line his pockets so be it

If the rest of Australia want to get on with human thriving and flourishing
And understand that a life lived in fear is a wasted life
I would congratulate them for their common sense

Meanwhile, back here in WA.

Vulnerable Perth patient groups claim hospital complacency is putting chances of survival at risk

Quote:
"Cancer sufferers are urging health bosses to do more to stop the spread of COVID within hospitals, as a new infection wave hits."

COVID: Women 50% more likely to get long coronavirus than men, major WA study reveals.

Bravo to John Flint for writing these articles, the first one was even published in The Sunday Times yesterday.

The second one may be published in today's The West Australian, I'll have a look after I buy the paper later this morning.

In the latest attempt to make Covid and it's serious consequences 'magically' disappear our dopey West Australian government is now closing down our Long Covid clinic.

COVID in WA: Virus wave expected to stretch to Christmas as anger mounts over closure of important clinic (Paywalled but you get the idea).

I guarantee the wave will stretch to way beyond Christmas... followed by the next wave and the next (and the 'troughs' between waves are getting smaller and smaller until it eventually becomes one continuous wave).

In fact, I remember the same thing being said before last Christmas.

But, it's not just WA closing the clinics.

From Denis - The COVID info guy

Link to article

Quote:
"Long COVID cases will likely increase with each new wave, so why are we closing clinics?"

"The ABC has found that of an estimated 23 clinics established in Australia, 5 have closed or scaled back operations after cuts to funding."

Yes, why?

As always, the esteemed Dr. Berger hits the nail on the head.

Disgraceful stuff.

Just in time for Christmas.

Funny about that.

We heard the same thing last year.

Why WA could finally be over the worst of COVID-19

Quote:
In good news for the festive season, the current wave of COVID infections has finally receded, the latest WA Health data confirms.

How would anyone know? No testing, no reporting….. plenty of people off work though!

Yes indeed.

And I hope someone's told the virus that the worst is over...  but I'm sure they haven't.

Especially the new recently arrived from overseas JN.1 variant which apparently is SARS-CoV-2's best effort so far at avoiding the short lived immunity from the vaccines or prior infection.

Party on... (because I'm sure Covid will... right into next year too).

WA weekly COVID update: 11 Dec to 17 Dec

https://nitter.net/BigBadDenis/status/1737992273726718284#m

Quote:
🔹PCR cases only: 571 (+113)
🔹Aboriginal population: 24 cases (+4)
🔹Deaths: 21 (+16)
🔹Total deaths: 1,304 (+21)
🔹Hospital: 157 (-2)
🔹ICU: 8 (+1)

🔸Cases numbers ⬆️Up 25% compared to the previous week

Another 21 deaths making WA's death total 1,304 since former Premier Mark McGowan finally caved in to business interests (and the 'cookers') and opened WA's border in March last year.

And testing and case numbers are ridiculously low as usual... PCR tests only (for the few who can be bothered getting tested these days).

When can we expect to see that "soft landing" Mark told us about just before WA's border reopened?

Well, my elderly aunt, me and 4 other people were supposed to go to the Carine Glades Tavern last night for a get together.

That had to be cancelled because two of them have Covid , they rang and told us yesterday morning (now, that's some real personal responsibility).

They were actually surprised that they'd caught it because they hardly go out these days except to the local shopping centre and I'm guessing they weren't masking although I didn't ask.

I think they were also surprised they'd caught it because due to the (deliberate) almost total lack of information about Covid from our governments and media they believed the pandemic is over or it's nothing to worry about anymore.

He's quite sick at the moment (76 years old) but his wife doesn't seem to have been affected too badly so far. Naturally, I informed them that Covid is rampant in Perth (and all over Australia) at the moment.

Kudos to them for letting us know and cancelling the booking due to them having Covid... I was a bit concerned about going actually because I'm sure it would have been crowded and no doubt there would have been at least several people there with Covid and they would be unknowingly or knowingly spreading it around.

I'm also imagining what a Covid superspreader event yesterday's Boxing Day sales would have been... needless to say I didn't go anywhere near Belmont Forum or any other shopping centre yesterday... just went to our local small IGA. Masked, of course.

Wow.

Another great Covid article by John Flint in today's The Sunday Times.

And on page 3.  Shocked

Not printed as a tiny bit of news buried near the back of the paper like what usually happens with any Covid news these days... if we get any news at all.

Yes, JN.1 is shaping up to be a major problem. But will the majority of the population take notice and start taking precautions like wearing masks?

If the number of people who I've seen wearing a mask when I've been out shopping during the past week is any indication then it'll be "nah - she'll be right, mate!".

Western Australia: 12 West Aussies died from COVID in the first week of 2024, WA Health data reveals. By John Flint.

https://nitter.net/BigBadDenis/status/1746291034060185887#m

Click on the images to read the article (because it's paywalled, as usual).

But, due to the total lack of information being given to the people of WA by the government no one is aware of this, of course.

When I went to Belmont Forum yesterday I counted about 3 masks besides mine, and one of those was being worn by a cleaner.

I wonder what Mark would think of this

I would say Mark (McGowan) couldn't care less anymore... after he caved in, opened WA's border in March 2022 and unleashed Covid upon us (resulting in over 1,300 WA Covid deaths so far) he then retired from politics last year, took his $300,000 a year taxpayer funded pension and 4 private sector jobs... no doubt he's laughing at the rest of us right now.

And the current WA Premier Roger Cook obviously couldn't care less as well.
