Trump Admin Desparation

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has publicly accused Iran's government of allowing the jihadist network al-Qaeda to establish a "new home base" there.
"Unlike in Afghanistan, when al-Qaeda was hiding in the mountains, al-Qaeda today is operating under the hard shell of the Iranian regime's protection," he told the National Press Club.
Mr Pompeo provided no concrete evidence to support his allegations.
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif called them "warmongering lies".

In this case, the Irani Minister is correct. Its a ploy to rally support for Trump through a common enemy. Remember, "patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel." Of course Trumpsters will not question the lies, even though Sunni and Shia are deadly enemies. Trumpsters are too insular to look carefully at anything. Especially anything outside their direct field of view.

I am of the belief that anyone turning a blind eye on Iran is making a huge mistake..

1992 that started in Australia in legislated form - though it had always been the de facto/default approach to jurisprudence anyway.

I agree about the huge mistake. But Iran is Shia and Al-Q is Sunni. Iran helped the allies during the invasion of Afghanistan to get Bin Laden, for this very reason. Now Pampeo wants us to believe they are all good buddies? No one with any knowledge of Middle Eastern affairs will credit this claim.

Going off on a bit of a tangent here (but still related to the Trump administration).

The liked article gives something of a "timeline" of the Trump/Pence relationship, and how (and why) it has soured in recent times.

You have to wonder at the ethics of a person who treats someone who has been as loyal at Pence has, the way Trump did (leaving Pence's own faults aside...in comparison, he actually seems like a beacon of sanity and levelheadedness).

To say nothing of Trump's half-witted supporters..."lynch" Pence for not unilaterally overturning an election? Seriously? Shocked

all well and good so where is the evidence ? that sounds like a GUESS.......would you seriously take Irans word for anything??????....
