Lets just examine this statement shall we.

Sure.

So I was wrong?

The stuff they inject into your body for the flu jab is exactly the same as what they want to inject into us for COVID?

In that case, I was wrong and I'm happy to admit that.

I was under the impression that different vaccines have different ingredients.

I guess I look pretty silly now   Embarrassed

I also (mistakenly) believed that in order to determine the long-term effects of something, that something had to be around for ... well ... a long term.

Guess I'm getting everything wrong today.

D'oh!

In a way yes. Yes you are. As I said the virus we are looking for a vaccine for is novel, but the methods arent that novel. My point with the flu vaccine is that technically its a new vaccine every year so why then do people take it? Because its manufactured the same way every year.

My other point about long term effects ( and what you reallyt mean is delayed onset adverse effects) is that we generally dont see thos sorts of long term delayed onset effects. Most adverse effects occur relatively quickly after administration of vaccines, like within a couple of weeks after administration.

E.g. heres a list of the Pfizer ingredients

: mRNA,
lipids ((4-hydroxybutyl)azanediyl)bis(hexane-6,1-diyl)bis(2-hexyldecanoate), 2
[(polyethylene glycol)-2000]-N,N-ditetradecylacetamide,
1,2-Distearoyl-sn-glycero-3-
phosphocholine, and cholesterol),
potassium chloride,
monobasic potassium
phosphate,
sodium chloride,
dibasic sodium phosphate dihydrate,
and sucrose.

The big one is used to make the lipid nanoparticles containing the mRNA. They could cause some allergic reactions but thats going to be when you encounter the lipid again, e.g. after the vaccination

And from a scientific point of view the mRNA vaccines are fascinating. They use the bodys own cells to use the mRNA as the code for a protein on the virus. Your cells then make the specific protein (but not the COVID virus) which your immune system then recognises as foreign and attacks.

Thanks for that info.  Much appreciated.

I'm still going to wait at least 12 months though before I even consider letting anyone inject that stuff into my body.

I'll keep wearing my mask, working from home, washing my hands, and keeping a safe social distance from everyone else as I closely monitor how the vaccine affects other people.

I'm not stopping anyone else from getting it (except my parents).

If you want them to stick it in you, go for your life.

I wouldn't dream of advising anyone else what to do.

It's a personal decision.

Do we know the long term effects of this vaccination? It hasn't like been around very long.
Exactly, all clinical trials should evaluate long term effects. try getting that through to the idiots on here. Now, heres what real scientists say about the rushed vaccines
Quote:
None of the leading COVID-19 vaccine trials are designed to detect a significant reduction in hospital admissions, admission to intensive care, or death,35 and such data usually only become evident in post-licence evaluations. These inherent limitations of phase 3 COVID-19 vaccine trials might result in similar knowledge gaps by avoiding answering the questions most relevant clinically and most relevant to public health in favour of answering the “easiest question in the least amount of time”.

All the vaccines we bought? And agani you're worried about safety, what delayed effects do you expect that havent been seen so far.

We don't know what to expect.

The only way to find out what the long-term effects will be (or if there are any), is to wait.

Why not, as I said this isn't made any differently then any other vaccine.  E.g. do you take the flu vaccine every year? Its a different vaccine, just made in exactly the same way.

No.  I've never had a flu jab in my life.

Even so, others have. E.g. I've had one every year for about a decade and apart from an increasing grumpiness around anti-science BS, I have no long term effects

I'm no scientist, but I think the stuff they inject into you for the flu jab is different to the stuff they want to inject into us for COVID.

Without the COVID vaccine being in general use for a long period of time, there's no way to know what the long-term effects may or may not be.

Yeah?   Undecided

Covid is not the flu, it is a variant of SARS. With any vaccine there is an element of risk, however these are minimal compared to the risks of not having it.
