From what I've been reading the past few days it is quite possible this "wicked Delta Indian variant" may be no more dangerous than the common flu even though it spreads a lot more easily than the original Covid virus.

If that's the case then it will be following 'in the footsteps' of other similar viruses in the past... over time they tend to mutate into less dangerous variants even if they spread more easily (so they can continue to thrive and infect more people rather than kill them which then dooms the virus, of course).

Our low vaccination rate is a function of complacency because we have had such low case numbers. Slovaka and Costa Rica have incredibly higher case numbers than us.

yes.
We also had a supply problem but it was mainly complacency because covid was really not here.

So, quite understandable really

Would like to see a list of posters here who's had it.

Well done, Sir Bobby.  Cool

Now, if you could just talk Sir Nail into rolling up his sleeve that would be great.  Smiley

Nail can't weigh up the risks without bias.

Let us know about your symptoms.

I'm getting my second Pizzer on Tuesday.

I hope it goes OK.
I preferred not to get an mRNA vax.
The AstraZeneca is not mRNA but the Pfizer is.

I have a feeling that within one year we'll all have  to
revisit this again with mRNA vaccines the only choice
to counter the rapidly mutating disease.

Yep, still early days with the Delta variant but reports from the UK seem good so far.

The Delta COVID-19 variant is more infectious – but there's 'promising' data on vaccines and deadliness

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-07-02/delta-coronavirus-variant-symptoms-vaccin...

Quote:
The Delta variant of COVID-19 has changed the way Australia is dealing with the pandemic.

It's more infectious, has different symptoms, and has been described as everything from a "tricky bugger" to a "guerilla fighter" by state politicians.

But as the Delta variant spreads, experts are learning more about how it works.

It's far more infectious than the virus we were dealing with last year.

In the United Kingdom the Delta variant only emerged in April, but it has quickly taken over as the dominant form of the virus there.

Experts estimate it could be about 50 per cent more transmissible than the Alpha variant, which was already about 50 per cent more transmissible than the original virus found in Wuhan.

(and further down):

Quote:
Because the variant is so new, research into it is in early days.

But Professor Turville said so far, mortality rates data looked promising.

"Looking at the 28-day follow up after infection, the death rate for the original variants was 1.9 per cent mortality," he said.

"So far the Delta variant is showing 0.3 per cent mortality.

"That's super encouraging. The early signs look promising, but it is too early to be definitive."

Fingers crossed.

400,000 people dead from Covid in India and
the true figure could be 10 times higher.

That is documented in our history....!

In the past when a virus mutates it becomes weaker.

Only with covid-19 have the people that are pushing the jab claimed that it is more deadly.

Bobby you got the jab...?!

After all you posted I thought you wouldn't get it at least for a while.

Hope all is well now and into the future.
