And yet the US is buying mega container loads of junk from china every day and our corrupt super funds keep buying shares in so called "australian listed" companies that support chinese industries and not our own industries. Go figure Cheesy LOL

Without Australian exports to China and imports from China, the Australian economy would collapse.

But what about the video from the point of view of the USA :

Good point in the video above.

Look at this -
this is what I'm talking about -
no calls by ScoMo for arms or troop reduction treaties -
just more spending - in fact - borrowing of money we don't have for dubious outcomes.

https://edition.cnn.com/2021/04/28/australia/asia-pacific-defense-australia-mili...

Australia will spend $580 million to upgrade four northern military bases and expand war games with the United States, Prime Minister Scott Morrison said on Wednesday.
In an announcement that comes amid an increasingly bitter diplomatic and trade spat with China, Morrison said Australia must expand its military assets in the Northern Territory to be able respond to unspecified tensions in the Asia-Pacific region.

The funds are part of an Australia defense plan that will see
Canberra spend $270 billion in the next decade

to improve Canberra's long-range strike capabilities.

More talk of war here and no talk of any
arms or troop reduction treaties:

What war between Australia and China
could look like if Taiwan conflict escalates

The idea sounds grand – charging forth, flags flying, to save a bullied island friend. But China’s been preparing for this for decades.

Blood, sweat and tears. Is Australia prepared to pay the price to defend its friend Taiwan from China? And what would such a fight look like?

The vision is not a new one: White knights charging forth, flags flying, to save friends from a bellowing dragon. But China’s been preparing to take – and hold – Taiwan by force for decades. It has just about every contingency covered. And the West may not be able to do much about it.

Washington and Beijing are locked in an intense strategic battle.

The feud over the reigns of global influence is playing out in Southeast Asia. And the protagonists are testing each other’s resolve on an almost daily basis.

All it would take is one wrong move. One accident. One real threat mistaken for a bluff.

And, if a shooting war does break out, the US and its allies are not guaranteed a win.

“We cannot lose a single inch of the lands we inherited from our ancestors,” the Chinese Defense Ministry’s Information Bureau recently proclaimed, “and we would not take a single cent of others’ possessions.”

China tells Australia to abandon its 'Cold War mentality' while criticising our politicians

Posted 6 hours ago, updated 8 minutes ago.

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-04-29/china-warns-australia-over-old-war-mental...

China has criticised Australian politicians for making remarks that "instigate confrontation" after weeks of warnings of conflict in the Indo-Pacific were followed by Home Affairs Secretary Mike Pezzullo using a staff address to say "drums of war" are beating in the region.
Key points:

Relations between China and Australia have soured over the past 12 months
Current and former politicians in Australia have warned of potential military conflict with China recently
China's Foreign Ministry spokesman has criticised Australia for what he labelled a "Cold War mentality"

In his Wednesday press conference Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian, called Australia's politicians the "real troublemakers" and declared Australia's hyping of a China threat "unethical".

China is no threat to Australia, Bobby.  I have been over this before.  China lacks the ability to threaten Australia conventionally.  They can have as many tanks and fighting men/women or fighter jets as they like.  They are no threat to Australia.   Tsk, tsk.  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Nothing from dopey ScoMo about  arms or troop reduction treaties - the guy has no vision.

He needs to go to the UN and make the problem known to the whole world in a huge speech.

China has us on the back foot,
we're against the ropes being pounded.
The world has to know.
It's life and death.

ScoMo must make a speech at the UN.

What are we gunna do when China invades Taiwan?

Taiwan is not Australia, Bobby.  Do you need a geography lesson?  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Taiwan is a province of China.  Perhaps it is time for them to be reunited under the one Government?  What are we going to do if Taiwan invades mainland China, Bobby?  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

dear Brian,
you are missing the point.

We'd have to spend half our GDP to overcome China but then
we don't have the man power or manufacturing power or technology either.
Wars are obsolete now.
Wars would lead to nuclear weapons being used
and that means the end of the world.
It looks like sleepy Joe would get us involved.

Back to the UN.

https://thediplomat.com/2020/04/how-china-is-remaking-the-un-in-its-own-image/

Currently, four of the 15 UN specialized agencies are headed by Chinese nationals, including the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDP), and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). And with its contribution rising to 12 percent of the UN regular budget, passing Japan at 8.5 percent, China is currently the second-largest monetary contributor to the UN.

Hasn't been a nuclear weapon used in anger since 1945, Bobby.  China is there, way over there.  We are here, way over here.  They have to get here to be a threat to us.  QED. Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Brian,
you are not following this.

The order of war is this:
China invades Taiwan then
the USA drags us into a war with China that we can't win.
(just like: North Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan & Iraq.)

comment please?
