Pascoe can at best be described as economical with the truth and more objectively as an outright liar pushing a political agenda rather than an accurate history.  The exposure of his false claims has predictably enraged the professional Aboriginals and virtue signalling whites, leading to the standard response of  'RACIST' rather than any counter argument.  Roll Eyes

If even 1 archeological site was found supporting his ludicrous claims.

It would be screamed on high.

But, sadly, there will never be any evidence, as it does not exist.

Someone said we could not judge a person's Aboriginality on their skin colour.  Why isn't that applied in the matter of Pascoe?  Tsk, tsk, tsk...   Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Grizzly bears have had aquaculture for even longer than Aboriginese and every year they harvest the salmon.

And? Valkie may not have been 100 percent semantically correct.  Good point. Took you an hour to come up with it, well done,.

Fish traps aren't aquaculture.... simple, really... they are built to trap fish for immediate use - not for breeding purposes - hence are not aquaculture.

Why not just accept that they did a pretty good job of it and leave it at that without the embellishment?  One can respect the achievements of others without trying to make those achievements more than they are...

One night, down on the farm, I headed out to turn off the pump in the bottom dam, since it was keeping the neighbours awake. turning the flash onto the dam water to see its depth, a huge eel surfaced in the light and rolled around... wow - I said - that dam has been empty for ages before the rains... now look... EELS.

I called the household - "Look, Ma - I created aquaculture!"

No, I concede, Bwyannnnn may have a point.

I will read up further before in depth comment.

Anecdotally I do remember reading something about this, but it was inconclusive that it was actually man made or a natural phenomenon.

That's one possible point, but may be more an aberration than evidence of a systemic and coordinated harvesting enterprise.

Ill get back to you.

Fair enough - maybe one small group of the vastly divided Kaffir worked out that channeling some of the water made trapping fish easier... probably did a study tour to Canada to observe beavers.. it stands to reason that in any population someone must have come up with a good idea.... for that one place.

Where are the others? Why was the idea not broadcast so all could benefit?
I mean, we're talking about a Pascoe national governance of a peaceful agrarian people who co-operated all round, aren't we?  surely a good thing would be spread around the entire continent so all would benefit, eh?    Amazing hysterical historical myth - agrarian societies were peaceful but nomadic tribes were not.... societies with established food supplies and even surpluses went after more and more throughout history... but oh, well... jeez - even in the modern Middle East (oxymoron) the small parcel of land hardscrabble farmer fights off his neighbours and any other marauders wanting to take it from him... or in extreme cases becomes a warlord = king etc....

One area with eel traps does not make a nation of builders of towns/villages & farmers.

They were Hunter Gatherers because they didn't need to be anything else.
