Benton County becomes 23rd County to Approve
Second Amendment Sanctuary Resolution

VINTON, Iowa — The Benton County Board of Supervisors voted Tuesday in favor of a resolution declaring the county a Second Amendment Sanctuary.

This resolution prevents law enforcement from enforcing state or federal gun laws that appear to violate the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms.

The Iowa Firearms Coalition sent the following statement following Tuesday’s vote:

"We are excited to see yet another county has sent a message to Washington, D.C. that Iowans are fed up with attacks against the Second Amendment," said Dave Funk, IFC President. "The Benton County Board of Supervisors showed great courage with today's vote and we look forward to when the Governor's office and state legislators take the steps needed to make all of Iowa a Second Amendment Sanctuary."
